The stock shifter blows. I've driven a new 5.0 with the stock shifter and one with an aftermarket performance shifter. Night and day. Ford shifters are junk no matter how "performance" ford claims them to be. I've edited my post above to a specific recommendation.

I'm not a fan of FWD shifters persoanlly. Remote shifters just don't have the "connected" feel As a directly bolted on shifter I'm my opinion. But different stroked for different folks.

I also find the 350z/g35 shifter too rubbery and when i almost bought a 6MT I was online looking at aftermarket shifter options. Surprisingly, I didn't find a lot of feedback although b&m makes a performance short throw. Not a lot of guys change out the shifter though. With mustangs...99% of the shifters get changed soon after purchase.

Hmm....really. I actually think the shifter on my brothers 2012 GT not bad at all. By the way, S2000 is rwd and that has the best shifter among all the cars I've driven.

Not really. For the way I'd equip the V6 Stang (Premium package), it would ring in at $27,105 msrp. For the 5.0 (Premium with 3.73 gear), it would ring in at $35,420. Swapping in a set of 4.11 gears would be around $500. The intake, exhaust, tune, and slicks would set you back another $2K. If I got a 5.0, I do the same exact mods and be running deep 12s with it, but would have to spend $37,000+ to do it. Not that I'd do it, but it would be fun to have a V6 Stang that can run mid 13s or better on street tires and much quicker on slicks while getting decent mpgs. The V6 in the Stang sounds much like the VQ series as well.

292whp with an axle back, tune, and intake.

I've found the stock 5.0 shifter to feel amazing and far better than anything I've felt in Fox 5.0s (aftermarket and stock shifters) and 4.6 Stangs. The new 5.0's shifter borders on as good as the S2000's wonderful shifter. Nissan should take notes and figure out how to fix the POS feeling shifter in the G/Z.

Its the best ford has put on a stock Mustang yet, but my buddies 5.0 with a Steeda tri-ax shifts much better.

But I guess thats all relative. My point is there are aftermarket options for everything for the Mustang. Don't like a specific part? Well, you can find 3+ companies that make a replacement for it.

if you want it, then do it

yeah specs blah blah blah
X car is better because of X

When I saw the G35 I bought it cuz I myself liked it, I didn't care that I couldn't beat V8s or that a Honda civic got better MPG

if you really like the car then go for it

I drove the Mustang for 50 yards, and drove it back to the parking stall...

...I upgraded for the M35, the Mustang is straight JUNK!

When you drive a G35 and go to Mustang you did a MAJOR downgrade, regardless of what version motor your got.

This reminds me of my friends 2011 camaro ss. It's got motor, but holy hell the interior is horrendous. Everything from the design to the quality is awful. Don't worry about speed, this car can't even pull far from my 5 yr old G35. He's never gotten more than 3 cars ahead of me in races. Get a 2011 G37 sedan 6MT.

One thing to think about, how does a 3-5 year old V6 Mustang compare to a 5-6 year old G? In a few years the newness will be gone.. Personally every time I see a V6 'stang, I see a waste of money. I know the new ones are supposed to be much better... but a nice mildly modded G? or a V6 Stang? I'd take the G any day.

V8 Mustang or no Mustang.. Even with the new pumped up V6, whats the point? Its an iconic muscle car that can haul azz, that sounds like heaven with exhaust, and the kind of car you could keep your entire life.. A V6, probably wouldn't provide that same relationship...

GO for it. Infiniti quality is pure sh*t. You will be much happier with the Ford in the long run.

Please, that's one of the most ignorant statements ever. The new 5.0 will literally run circles around your 03 g35 not to mention the gt500...that's a whole other story. I'm not a fan of mustangs myself but you gotta give them credit where it's due, either way you're telling me you'd rather have your 03 sedan if you were given the chance to own a new GT500?
