Question Anyone else like their older car better than the new ones?

I have a 2005 G35x and love it...I've been loaned 2010 G37x's and for whatever reason I haven't been a fan of them. Although I can tell they're faster I don't like the "feel" of the accelerator...with my car I feel 100% confident that if I needed to swerve to avoid something I could do it. With the G37x's I've driven, I don't feel as comfortable. It also seems they buffer the outside more which maybe is good, but I feel more disconnected to the road with the newer models.

It's one of those situations where if I ever wanted to trade in my car for something new the G37x wouldn't be a no-brainer purchase. I'd have to compare this model with competing models.

Anyone else feel this way?

I had a loaner 2010 when I had an air bag issue.

I agree, it wasn't the same. But it should be the same feel either.

The car felt different and I wasn't used to it. If I was buying a new car soon I would buy G37.

I had a loaner G37 sedan, and I didn't like it either.

For one thing, the steering wheel was really fat. Steering felt more 'disconnected'. I also seem to remember a weird blind spot, too.

Ha I thought the same thing with the steering wheel. I also think it has a weird blind spot...I know when I'm backing up I feel less comfortable and swivel my head back and forth.

It could also be that I'm not a fan of the low-end model. My friend has the G37xS model and the interior is much nicer. My loaner is just a sea of dusty black.

Drive it for a few weeks and get used to it and your opinion might change. I've "not liked" a newer car just because it was different in the grand scheme of things and new to me.

However, I prefer nice new cars..so one of these days, as much as I love my 06x...it will get replaced

True enough, but sometimes you just hop in a car and it just fits like a glove!

I haven't driven a newer g but I have an 04 and I like the looks of my body style better than the newer ones. I like the interior and performance on the new ones, but there's just something about the styling of the 1st and 2nd gen sedans that I like better.

I haven't yet driven a new 37... I'm honestly a little scared to, lest I should fall in love with a car I can't yet afford

However I do think it a bit funny that my raggedy, 9 year old, 130K+ mi, near-base model, first-of-the-first model G35 sedan will out-perform a brand new G25

I've driven a lot of second gen Gs and I much prefer my first gen.

I feel the same way. Our cars also out-perform Civics, Corollas, Altimas, Accords, Camrys, the list goes on and on.

I have mixed opinions about it. There are things I like and dislike about both. I plan on keeping my car for another four years or so. After that, I'll strongly consider a second gen G37.

Seems like the G37 coupe looks good, but they kind of botched the looks of the sedan when things got updated.

Really? I would take a G37 sedan over a coupe any day.

Of course I think 1st and 2nd generation sedans look better than the coupes so what do I know?

I wish my 1st gen had the HR motor, the 2nd gen interior, and the 2nd gen fender flares. If my G had all that, I don't think I'd ever get rid of it. If I were looking for a new sports sedan right now, the G wouldn't be on my list. The cars have gotten way too heavy (350lbs+ heavier than my 03), disconnected, and the exterior of the 2nd gen is just to curvy.
