Cabin Air Filter and Engine Air Filter

Ive done some searching on this site and found some decent info on the cabin air filters but not much on the engine air filters. Im pretty new to doing my own maintenance on my car but and going to start with these.

From past threads it looks like Im going to go with the Fram Fresh Breeze cabin air filter. I havent seen too much info on the engine air filters. What is a good reasonably prices filter I can pick up at Walmart/Amazon?

Thanks!

Just go to Autozone. They have them on the shelf for $10 or so.

I've tried different cabin air filters, they don't make a difference. The charcoal ones are more pricey, and help with odors, but they don't last and i really didn't notice much difference. I just buy the cheapo $12 STP cabin filter now. I change mine every 6 months or so because it's so cheap/easy. haven't noticed a difference in any of the brands i bought.

For air filters..invest in a panel K&N and just clean it. If you reall don't care, just get a basic Fram/STP air filter.

I use the Fram Fresh Breeze for the cabin filter and it seems to have removed the mildew smell I was getting for a while.

As for the engine filter, I've been using a Wix 46116 which can be picked up at most local autoparts stores for ~$10.

I'm thinking about spending a little more next time and trying out the Amsoil EAA74. I like the fact that they are reusable while still being a dry filter. I think they run around $35.

I have a K&N stock replacement engine air filter and plan on cleaning it every summer. I feel like I heard every 10k miles somewhere but I can't be sure. That number can be much lower if you like in a dusty place though.

The cabin air filter I bought at advance and is cheap enough I'll probably change every summer as well.

Hope this helps.

I have the k&N air filter that i clean every 10-15k miles with the recharge kit. In cabin air filter I just buy the cheapest and change when needed.

I would order it online and save money. You get much more for much cheaper and it is all OEM if not better. K&N filter for $30, Laser platinum plugs for $6 each, and Air filter for $13. Free shipping just sweetens the deal even more along with a lifetime hi flow filter which should help you gain between 1mpg -1.5mpg. Please some I dare you to find better prices than I can.

a "THANKS" wouldn't hurt but regardless please stop wasting money at local parts store and order everything online. They also sells nice tools for bleeding brakes and other specialty tools that you can use the coupons on as well. Enjoy and have a safe wrenching out there.
