I feel many of you are getting confused or misled... As men, we work very hard in life and deserve two vehicles (at least) to serve our purposes. Obviously there's the vehicle we NEED which does whatever we want it to, lives through hell, and always comes back for more. Then there's the vehicle we WANT which should be sexy as f*ck and as impractical as we want it to be. This is where, for some reason, you want to combine these two probably in the name of COMPROMISE. Ummmmm eff that dudes. You gotta stand up for what is right and a practical sports car is not that... Ever.

Realistically a g isn't practical in either form; it is fast(ish), rwd (usually), not very good on gas mileage, and definitely not good at hauling large quantities of anything. If you want to be practical get a truck or a prius depending on your priorities and then get something for YOU. Now if you got the sedan because it made your pants a little tight when you looked at it, more power to you! You're approaching the situation correctly. That's why I bought a coupe. If people need a ride, or i'm going snowboarding, or I have project to do and lot's of stuff to go get, I take my ram... Oh beautiful practicality. If I want to remind myself how much I LOVE driving and do something for me, I take my G...

I think you're starting to get the picture guys so I'll leave you with one piece of advice:

Don't let the situations/women in your life beat you into thinking you need to give up every bit of impracticality in your soul, because we deserve to have some in our life just because it's fun.

^I completely agree with paragraph 1... but you clearly aren't living by your own advice.

There's no reason (aside from looks, which is debatable) from your logic, to buy a G35 Coupe as your 'fun' car, rather than getting a Z. The Z is harder, faster, more fun, practicality can't enter into the 'fun' car equation so the Z's lack of practicality goes away...

Really, the Z doesn't even fall into that category, because there's more fun to be had for cheaper with something like a V8 Mustang.

And technically, even THAT doesn't fit, because if you're buying a car for fun and to be dead sexy, you should be buying an Elise.

For me, my budget at the time limited me to one car. I was forced to go as practical as I could while sacrificing as little performance as possible... the G Sedan fits that criteria well, but I'll soon be buying a car strictly for fun, and older 280Z which I will likely do and engine swap on... that's pretty much 100% impractical

I haven't read this thread but I will offer my reasoning for buying a sedan over a coupe. I can't get past the look of the rear bumper on the coupe. I don't like it, it looks like a fat lip. It's not as bad on newer coupes, but I just don't like it. There, I said it.

I do like the coupe, just not as much as the sedan. The practical stuff is a bonus, but it honestly wouldn't have made a difference to me.

^Funny you should say that...

Today I was leaving a shopping center parking lot and met another first-gen G35 Sedan on their way in. Of course, as with all of us, my interest perked in that "oh look, another G35 owner" kinda way... only to notice....... yeah, it's a couple in their 70's-80's
I was kinda bummed

But then I left the parking lot and punched it to merge with traffic, and somewhere around 4 grand I wasn't sad anymore!

I am 20 years old.. I have no desire to want/own a G coupe. When I am ready for a 'fun car' it is going to be a Corvette or a Porsche. A car that actually sacrifices 4 doors so that it hauls ***. The G coupe is just overweight with a V6..

I really dont think Ill ever own a 'fun car'. I don't like fun cars. I just like big cushy comfortable cars with nuclear bomb amounts of power out of the motor lol. I'll get my Bentley some day...

As I sit here reading this, approaching the 20th anniversary of my 18th birthday, I feel like I have to respond. While I don't disagree with your statements, at some point we may have to get realistic with the direction our lives are going, and that's when compromises have to be made. If you're young and money is pouring out of your pockets, there's no reason to not have a fun car - I did it too.

Now, if you're married with a house and kids, and still have money pouring out of your pockets, more power to you!! Keep your toys if you want 'em, since they're not sucking from your endless wealth. However, if you have the house, kids, and money is NOT pouring out of your pockets any more - guess what, you don't need 2 cars! Lots of guys get into trouble when they **** a ton of $$ into a toy, only to find out when it's time to sell they take a major financial beating on their investment. Cars are a waste of $$ period.

When I got married in '02 I kept my toy (an '88 Monte SS) and my DD - my wife didn't force me to get rid of anything. We bought a house, had a couple of kids, and I had less and less time to drive it. Houses require lots of attention, kids require lots of attention, and toys do not - they sit and wait for you to use them. The last few years it was in the garage, I only put a few hundred miles on it. I finally sold the Monte a few months ago because it was more of a garage ornament than anything else, and I figured that $$ was better in my bank account than sitting in the garage. Not her decision, mine. I figured it was better to have one car that my *** was gonna be driving every day be a lot of fun, rather than driving some boring Jeep for weeks on end waiting for the time I might get to go drive the Monte for an hour or two.

Someday I'll have another fun car, but I'm perfectly happy with one for now. Besides, I can still mod the G and make it even more entertaining to drive.

4doos mo hoes!!

Lol jk, but Iv had my fun with with 2doors and nothing can compare to having a four door. Friends and family can get out with out a hassle. It's spacish so when I decide to do something with guys such as fishing etc no need to worry about were the gear goes.
I personally think it looks more cleaner.

And when I decided to choose my "fun" car later on, Ill be going with a lancer evolution, four door, fast, looks mean and well you have the best outta every world IMO.

But don't get me wrong, there are a couple two door/two seater cars I would love to own.
Hey to each is own. Just my 2cents.
