Coupe Midpipe

Quick question: Whats the difference in the coupe and sedan midpipe. Is it just a deeper sound? Also is this a direct swap or would you have to do some mods to put a coupe midpipe on a sedan.

It is a direct swap. It also depends on what year sedan you have. The 03-04 sedan midpipe is MUCH heavier than the 05-06 sedan midpipe, so if you go with the coupe midpipe, you'll save more weight with the 03-04. The tone change will also be more dramatic with the 03-04. I put it on my '06 and still noticed a change in the exhaust tone. It had more of the coupe sound to it, but don't expect it to sound just like it.

'04 sedan middy on the left, '04 350z middy with a nismo extention on the right (need a nismo extention or a shop to weld extra pipe if you go that route)

Thanks guys thats all I needed to know. I have an 05 and my buddy has his oem exhaust off his 05 coupe so I figure I might as well do it since he doesn't need it. Anyone want to buy the rest of the coupes exhaust. I will be posting it on marketplace soon or pm me if interested in parts along with my sedan mid-pipe.

Research on changing your Y Pipe. I switched out my bulky 03 midpipe for a 06 sedan mid pipe and love the sound.

You will get a throatier sound from just the coupe mid, and an even deeper growl with switching to the HR Y. I have been meaning to post a video of my '06 with the OEM muffler. It's a decent step up if you're only looking for a slight change in sound. I don't know how much power you get from changing the Y and if any from the mid, but its there.

As far as I know changing the midpipe does not produce an noticeable change in power, but will change the sound. Changing to an HR y-pipe however will produce a little bit more noticeable power as the point of convergence and flow of the pipe is better tuned.

I'm not ready to revamp my entire exhaust so I just put in a 22" magnapack in place of the 03-04 resonator and I love the sound difference! =)
