So I took my car on a cruise this weekend. Upon coming home, I noticed that smoke was coming out of the engine bay. Opened the hood and a plume of white smoke came out. Now it smells like something is slighly burning after driving.

However, oil temps are fine (no oil consumption issues) and no sensors have tripped. No fluid is leaking. Drives fine as well. Any idea WTF is going on? Taking it in to be checked on Wed.

Not enough info to know, are you sure it was smoke and not steam?

smelled like something was burning/melting hence my assumption that it was smoke.

check your coolant levels and report back. Let the car cool down and remove the radiator cap and see if you can see fluid in there. Sounds like you are running low on fluid or could be a head gasket like the other bose bumping buddy.

fluid levels look good. Oil levels look good, though there is a very thin amount higher up on the dip stick. No leaking under the car or onto the skid plate. Smells like a combo of cilantro and melting plastic,

well I had the same problem after a night of extremely hard driving, 0-100's, and it turned out to be just the oil burning when I stopped and popped the hood

Dave I had a tiny rip in one of mine and it was throwing grease everywhere in a circular pattern right behind the hub. I asked my local mechanic how much to rebuild and his answer was "You're better off buying a used half axle and replacing that". So I called the local dealership where a friend of mine is the parts manager. OTD price for a regular Joe that called for a new half axle? Over $900, my discounted price $500. So I went to ebay, bought one with 32,000 miles, and paid $68 total shipped for my part. Took me less than an hour to swap them out.

Hopefully your dealer can fix it reasonably.

Sewell parts with G35 discount...I would go with used on ebay or get a local drivetrain shop rebuild it for you.

for both cv boots and labor, I was quoted $400. Axle is just fine and does not need replacement.

That's not too bad I guess. Are you gonna have them do it?
