I mainly use it for a on board live map, rarely for actually navigation functions. If i was to buy new i would not opt for this. Like many said you can get a JDM trim for $300 and most aftermarket GPS radios are $300-1200. Much better stuff. Only good thing about OEM is its kinda sheath-like
Where i live, an aftermarket setup would get jacked in a second. My G stays outside, so i'm stuck with OEM setups or risk replacing damaged parts when some scum tries to take my nice modern setup. Trust me, i've thought of doing a dual Nav setup many times.

I'm planning on moving soon to NH, so hopefully that will fix that problem and i'll get a nice touchscreen Nav and modern setup

But yes..that damn **** SUCKS...so does the fact that the controls are all RHD-orienteted.

ok, so if I buy one of these 2003's or so with a built in navagational system, will it have all the new streets that exist today since 2003? Because where I live there is a bunch of new streets and places that weren't around in 2003. Will I have to go somewhere to get it upgraded, if so, how much does that cost?

if the previous owner(s) purchased the latest DVD updates than yes. I wouldnt count on it though, they are rather expensive. The most recent version is 6.9 and its $149, you get an update disk you run on the system yourself, and then you insert the newest map data disk. I would search the marketplace here, ebay/CL, or buy them new from here:

^ what he said. if you get an 03-05 I might be able be able to help you get a more current disc. I own the 2008 and 2010 updates, they are know as 6.7 and 6.9 map disc. I sold another member my 2009 map disc.

Be happy its at $149 it used to be $300 in 2008.

After market FTW... and O5-06 for the win... Haha, unfortunatley I think you would be damn lucky to find one in your price range...

I think a thief would have some big ***** and damn good tech skills to rip this thing out... BUT, I have seen it once or twice on the forum...

Good luck!

When you dont care about the trim or what you damage its pretty easy. Even with a simple set of tools from the dollar store.

You dont need tech skills. Its more of smash and grab. Who cares about the harness, just cut it off for the time being. 5-10 minutes and that this is ripped out. Might forget things like GPS antenna and other stuff.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah, whatever Turtle! haha, joking.... But yeah.

Luckily it does not seem to happen very ofter to G's from what I have seen...
Possibly because it looks stock, dunno.. My car has been broken into before but seemed they were just looking for a quick smash and grab, ended up not taking anything of value. Because I leave nothing of value in the car.

wow, that is an awesome navigational system. Is that what the o5's navi looks like? It looks aftermarket, but it says infiniti on it, so it isn't? I'm confused? If that's aftermarket, how much did it cost? Also is it hard to look down at the location when your driving for directions?

Most new nav and even basic DVD players will allow you to upload an image

you can upload an infiniti logo or any pic you want

that looks like a Pioneer

MJION setup isn't too pricey at all.

$300-400 for JDM trim, GPS double din radios can be $400-1800. metra wiring kit and steering wheel adapters can about another $100.

You can probaly do a 1-2 year old unit for about $1000, i've seen some in the marketplace here in the past.

I have the stock Navi in my sedan, I'd prefer a aftermarket double din with touch screen though. I dislike the oem one.
