Parking Brake Won't Engage...

........ this has been happening to me for the past 2 months....
I step on the PB, and it bounces right back... and I don't hear the "ka ka ka ka ka ka" sound as the pedal is depressed...
now one out of every four times, I have to step on the pedal for more than 3 times to get it engaged.... however, I can't seem to replicate the problem at dealers when I asked them to examine my car.... thus they can't exchange the thing because they can't write it off as failure...

any of you guys experienced this??? what're your thoughts???

Does it do it when you have the car in Park or in Drive and then you put it in Park. That may help you show the dealer whats happening. They will put the car in park and do it. I usually put the P Brake on before I put the car into Park and I have not had this issue ever, sorry.

Re: Parking Brake Won't Engage...

I have the exact same problem...the brake almost never engages on it's own. Got the car last August and the brake stopped engaging about a month ago.

To get around it I actually push the pedal to the floor, move my foot off, let it slam back up on it's own, and then it will ratchet back down. Just waiting on next service interval for repair.

I always shift into Neutral, engage the PB, then shift into park... it may have something to do with it...

I asked them to check it when they performed my 7500 mile check-up, but my service assistant said that unless they can reproduce the problem, they can't write it off....

Have you tried to do it while in drive then put it in park? I think this problem sucks and I would like to help but it may be a dealer issue=(
