Ok I have the Muffler, I've been SWAMPED but I'm trying to get this higher on my TO-DO list.

I peeked at it today, and I don't see any access to any valving..... everything looks open until you reach the baffles, and that's not visible.

Looks like I'll have to just open it up in the same location as the 03/04 and we'll see what we have in there. Hope to get at it tomorrow if I can.....

Do you have access to a welder? If so, you should just cut out a big square on the top side of the muffler to get a better look... There might not be a valve in the same location as the 03-04, as the newer muffler is a tad bit larger... Then cut out what you need to cut out, and weld the square back up...

Glad it got to you in one piece. How did it survive the ride in it's "cocoon"?

You should have seen the look on the lady's face at the post office when I sent it. Had a friend with me and he was rolling on the floor. Can't wait to see the results.

I don't have a TIG with Stainless rod, so any cutting and welding I'm going to do is going to comprimise the metal, and it's anti-rust properties. I accepted that when me and Blue Dream arranged this, but I'm not planning on opening the whole thing and comprimising more than I have to, although I would love to see the inside, specifically, what makes the damn thing weigh so much!!! It's got to me what, 60-70 lbs? frikkin nuts!

Wow I just realized I never confirmed it's arrival with you!!! Sorry bud, yes I was very pleased with the wrapping, she arrived as I assume you sent it, just a little scraping from bottoming out the back end

Anyways with the rain my plans went to heck today so this will have to hold off a bit longer, sorry guys.

The honeymoon was short lived. I put my unmodified 03/04 muffler back on about a week ago. I absolutely loved the sound, but didn't like the way the modded muffler effected initial throttle response, the early throttle shifting of the 5AT, and the extra engine braking. If I had a 6MT, I'd keep it because all these issues wouldn't be a problem. The shifting might not be a problem for the later 04.5 5AT cars either because of the revised shift logic and the ability to modify shift firmness with tuning software. I can't do squat in terms of tuning with my 03. The muffler will likely be for sale soon.
