Has anyone cut open a OEM 03-06 sedan muffler? I'm trying to figure out where the variable valve is inside the muffler. Thanks.

The muffler looks great. Are you kidding about opening up one of these mufflers?
There should be a spring-loaded valve in the muffler which allows the passenger side exit pipe to flow at ~3500-4000rpms. It idle on a cold day, you see and feel only exhaust coming out the driver's side.
I've done a bit more research regarding these types of mufflers and it appears the design is solely to reduce noise at lower rpms and not to improve lower rpm power as I had orginially thought. The coupe muffler doesn't use a valve either.
I've curious about how the muffler would sound with the valve removed. I don't think it will sound like a coupe, but perhaps a bit more sporty. I've mapped out the inside of the muffler and flow paths using measuring tapes poked into the muffler pipes. I think I have a good idea on where the valve should be based on how the pipes are arranged. I'd rather cut as little as possible of the canister.

This probably won't happen until Saturday. I know there's a valve in there because I've found old thread on some Nico forum where a guy cut into one and posted pics. Of course the pics no longer show up.
