^idk size wise wat .001 micron looks like but im guessing its pretty small. is that small amount of debris that gets through the filter ok for the engine. i guess thats the important question lol

Um, put it this way....a human hair is 40-120 microns. .001 is a lot smaller.

This isn't for a car filter though. I do "other" stuff

Also the oil is desinged to hold particules of a certain size in suspension. Not that it's acceptable to have dirt in the engine though.

there are other independent tests that came to the same conclusion.
K&N filters allow more air in, but the cost is letting MUCH more dirt in than typical OEM filters...

have you noticed that K&N NEVER talks about their filtration rates... only their air flow rates..

K&N can't be blamed if people don't follow their directions and oil the filters the right way. I hardly think there are people who did it as per K&N instructions and still had MAF problems. Don't just think your an engineer and you know more than the people who made the filter by not following what they say to do.

Smile Update to K&N Air Filter Issue

Hello everybody,

What a great bit of information, shared as result of my question and rant. Thanks a bunch.

Here is the skinny:

1. Two independent mechanics checked my vehicle, put it on two different diagnostic machines. Result: AIR FLOW METER IS FINE...There is NO DAMAGE.

2. As I stated - THE DEALERS ARE JACKASSES AND PART CHANGES. POTENTIALLY FRAUDULENT, CROOKS.

The problem with my vehicle all this time, has been The fuel system and I need to change a spark plug. An expensive fix, but at least I know what the issue is now.

Thanks for all the feedback.....
