Newborn approved coilovers

Been rolling on Tein Basics for 2 years now, rides smooth and no one notices a difference in ride quality from stock. Put about 60k on them so far and they still ride the same. However, I have a newborn baby on the way in about 5 months give or take. I personally don’t feel its smooth enough on rough patches of road for a newborn. I’ll be ok with when the baby is already 18 months to 2 years old but as of now I can’t bare the thought of seeing my baby’s head bouncing up and down in my rearview. Anyone with newborns have recommendations on coilovers?

If not I will probably put the stock suspension back on and sell the car because I can’t stand any wheel gap on the G even if it’s just a one finger gap. Only cars I’m ok with wheel gap are Suv’s, trucks, and muscle cars but I’m not sure if I want to have a car payment again.

LOL, all good, thanks for the input tho. My wife and I have a 02 accord as an extra car but I really do not enjoy driving it.

Sell the car because of wheel gap?

Is this your first kid? First off, congrats! Secondly, after he/she is born, your priorities will change in a hurry and modding your car will slowly become a distant 2nd to your child.

So my vote is stock suspension, but you'll probably end up in a minivan or SUV once you realize babies need a lot of crap to go anywhere. The G35 is kinda small.

I've watched plenty of "car guy" friends leave the hobby after their kids showed up. No more lowered cars and spending cash on mods. Instead it's diapers, formula and baby expenses.

Needless to say...I don't have kids. So i still have my toys

Thanks mustang! Yes first kid. I already left the car scene once when I sold my civic and swore never to return but ended up lowering the G sedan anyway. LOL been researching other coilovers and starting to lean towards stock suspension

I ran on BC racing coilovers 10 clicks from full soft when my oldest son was first born. It wasn't too stiff for him at all. Now I ride full stiff on the BCs and my oldest (now 3) can handle it. My youngest (1) would probably freak out though so when we take the whole family somewhere we just ride in my truck or my wife's SUV.

Cool thanks for the info Marcus. I figure we'll use my wife's suv majority of the time but when i'm transporting the baby by myself I want to make sure it will be ok. I'm glad to hear your eldest was ok with the BC's on those settings when he was born. I may take that route now.

Its nice having coilovers with adjustable dampening. I think Dave (MatzoBall) also runs 10 clicks or so from full soft on BCs and he has his kids in the car all the time.

Yeah i bought some varrstoens a while back, still in box unopened. I initially was going to buy function and form type 2's with 225/35 and 235/35 tires and hoping to ride at 24 inch fender to ground height but with the baby on the way im thinking I should change my plans for now. New coils with dampening, 40 series tires instead and maybe 24.5 to 25 inch fender to ground. Im really on the fence as to what coils to get tho with the baby in my mind.

I dont think is gonna get any smoother than basics, i picked up my daughter from the hospital when she was born on my last car which had neuspeed spring and they are pretty stiff, she used to cry when the car used to stop lol, so just leave the car how it is now newborns dont get out much the first few months any ways, by the time my next one comes ill be on coils.

Good point. I'll probably go on family medical leave from work when the baby is here for a while. So it might never be an issue.

For the 20 mph speeds that you will be driving with a newborn, you will be JUST FINE. All the bumps will be so slow he won't know or care. In fact, most of the newborn-ready carseats have a soft head stabilizer anyways. Not a big deal. Its not like the baby will be in the car 24/7 anyways.
