Broken coil pack bolt
Broken coil pack bolt
So I was doing my spark plugs today and was on the last one putting the bolt that holds the coil pack down and SNAP the bolt broke.. Not sure why this happened, followed the DIY from this forum and used the same torq settings on all the other bolts and noting else broke. It's pretty flush with the valve cover so there's no way to spin it out.. I've heard of the easy out tool but never use one before.. Any suggestions?

No clue.. The bolt just snapped, not sure if it was bad or what because all the other bolts tightened up just fine.
I've tried the easy out method w no luck....
Had to mig a tack on top of the bolt, then use a vise grip to turn it out.
If u do this, u have to do very quick tacks n cool it down fast, otherwise u might melt the vc.
Do this at your own risk. This was a last ditch resort for me, n I got lucky

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's more trouble than it worth if you can't get it out with the easy-out. The packs fit on there pretty snug. If anything, possibly consider cutting a peice of dense rubber and jamming it between the coil pack base and the fuel regulator assembly above to reduce the chances of the pack coming loose.......which is highly unlikely.
If you must remove it, the easiest and most effective way is to replace the valve cover.

an ease out will take that bolt out
looks similar to this
http://www.brokentap.com/easy-outs.html
most parts stores have em.
I think a single one is like $10 and a set of different sizes is $40+
used one on an old radiator, thought It was done till I remembered the ease out I had

Thanks for the input guys.. I ended up going to a local shop here and they were able to use an easy out type thing and they backed it right out. Didn't charge me either
Glad that headache is over..

What kind of shop was it you took your car too?
You also mention they did it free of charge, do you know why?
