What Next???

Hey Guys-

So I have just started doing some minor mods to my '05 X, and I'm kind of stuck on what to do next...as you can see in my sig, I upgraded the head unit, threw on some clear corners, and this past weekend installed the z-tube/pop charger combo. I'm wondering what I should do next? Is there a certain order of upgrades people tend to follow?

This car is my daily driver, it sees winter (I live in upstate, NY), and I'm not looking for anything crazy, just a nice, clean G. Obviously we're going into winter here (just had our first snow!) so that needs to be taken into consideration, too...

Let me know your thoughts guys...thanks in advance!

Tim

It really depends what you're looking for:
Engine/Power - Motordyne 5/16 spacer
Exhaust - HR Y pipe/ Coupe mid-pipe
Lighting - 8/6Ks or Retrofits
That's pretty much the standard list, with the exception of lowering it, because you might want to be careful with the snow haha

The plenum spacer is a very popular, cost effective mod that will compliment your intake. I'd do that next.

If you want looks, drop that b*tch! A slight drop will make your car look better than a body kit can without a drop. And then maybe some wheels.

If you just want power, then get the Motordyne plenum spacer and Uprev Osiris ECU reflash.

If you want better handling, lowering and suspension would be the way to go, but a good starting point to greatly improve handling without the drop would be adjustable sway bars, struts and great tires.

You can definitely lower the car and still not have problems with snow. My car is boosted and dropped on coupe springs (soon to be Z springs up front, coupe springs in the rear which will bring it even lower) and I had no trouble through all the ice and snow we had here in IN last winter. The AWD on these cars is great and claws through everything. I have the HR Y pipe and coupe midpipe and that is the main thing that I scrape (before lowering further, haha). I'd say (if you aren't looking for performance) to just leave the stock exhaust on it and lower it.

Thanks for the feedback so far, guys! I have owned the car for 3 years, but have just recently started throwing some mods in it...I can definitely see how this can become addictive!

I'm trying to stay somewhat balanced as I do things, ie Stereo, Performance, & Aesthetics, and doing some of the most common ones first.

Keep the advice coming!

Welcome Tim from another Tim. I just posted this in another thread but will repeat it here.

If I was to start all over again I would do these 4 things first:
1. MD 5/16" Plenum spacer
2. Sway bars-Hotchkis or MD
3. Coilovers
4. Rims

After that I'd do a full exhaust with the MD ART pipes followed by the Osiris tune for max bolt on power, then start working on my cosmetic exterior, interior, and engine bay mods. Just be warned that once the modding starts it's virtually impossible for a lot of us to stop as there is always something else you'll see that you just HAVE to have, especially if you stay on Driver.

I've had my car for almost 3 years and it appears it will never be "done" but I'm OK with that. Check out my garage if you'd like, I need to add a couple of pics of my newest toys but you'll get the idea.

BTW another Tim has arguably the sickest sedan on this forum, if you haven't seen his car look here and make sure you have a towel to catch the https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...ddy-twins.html
