No dealer within 2500 miles
No dealer within 2500 miles
Ok, Thinking about picking up a g35x. I am about 2500 miles away from any Infiniti dealer. Purchasing one and driving or shipping it home (Anchorage, AK) is no problem. I am worried about possible warranty or misc repair issues. Has anyone had experience (good or bad) taking their g35 (or other Infiniti) to a Nissan dealer?
I have been told by several Infiniti dealers along the West Coast that I should be able to just take it into a Nissan dealer, as they are trained at the same facility. Do they in fact train the Nissan techs on repairing the AWD or other specific system to the g35? I don't really want to pay $1500 (one way) to ship a car to Seattle for warranty work.
The other vehicles in consideration have dealers in town, so am not worried about them and possible warranty work.

I live in the bay area, and take my car to my local nissan specialist, NOT the dealer. it works great for me, and saves me a ton of money. 85% of the parts are the same as the 350Z, so any nissan shop will be fine, even for warrenty work.

I live about 4 hours drive from the closest Infiniti dealer. I have been taking my G to the local Nissan dealership for over a year now with no problems. They replaced my pads/rotors a few months ago under warranty for me with no problems.
Good luck!

There must be some dispensation then, for those too far away from an Infiniti dealer. Everything I have heard down in the lower 48 is that warranty work has to be done by an Infiniti dealer.
Other dealers are OK for non warranty work like oil changes.
But for someone in Alaska, Infiniti might not like arranging "free" transport of a disabled car 2500 miles each way

Be careful.....Some Nissan dealers can't do warranty work on Infinitis. My local Nissan dealer cannot. He has to ship the car to the nearest Infiniti dealership.
I can't imagine Nissan giving you problems with getting warranty at a Nissan dealer in your situation, but you'd be wise to check it out first.

Thanks
Did some checking, not sure if I'd want to even have a Nissan here. Tested their Dealer, never returned any phone calls.
Did talk to another brand of dealer. They've been toying with the idea of adding a brand to their lineup and thinking of having Infiniti. They're just toying with the idea now, and building a brand new building this spring, so it'll be a few years.
Going to have to put that on my "If I lived in the lower 48, I'd have..." list.
