yakima roof rack help!!

So I bought the yakima rack for the snowboarding season. For those that have one, did you follow the M measurements or did you put the rack on indentations that are inside the door frame?? The M measurements and the indentations dont match up. Just curious as to what everyone else used to install theirs. Any feedback would be appreciated, Thanks!!!!

I have a Yakima rack and i use the indentions on the inner door opening. I carry two Mountain bikes no problem.

do you use a fairing? when I lined it up with the indentations, the fairing was pushed pretty far back. What measurement are you using for the front bar? the M1 still?

I do not use a fairing. I am actually going to make a type of diffuser for the noise. I don't like fairings cause they make contact with the paint and can potentially rub.

I used the M measurements when I had mine. Although mine flew off my car on on the interstate with my kayak about a year ago, so maybe the built-in dimensions are the way to go.

The fairings dont really make contact. Yakima thought this thru and provided little adhesive foam that you apply to the bottom of the bracket that holds the fairings to the cross bar. This provides a soft cushioning for the contact points.

Sorry for the unrelated comment, but those G37s wheels look really good on your car. Had to mention it haha.

I have had this rack setup for the past couple years and i said screw the measurements Yakima gave me and just put the feet in the indentations and it works perfectly.
