I was the same way- a year out of college and no credit to my name. So what I did was join a credit union. They gave me the loan for 7.5%!

So like the title says, goodbye G35. Over Thanksgiving weekend I went to my friends house to kill time while I waited to pick up my girlfriend from work. When it was time to get my girl, my buddy and I went in his car. After picking up my girl and already back at my buddys place, I walked over to my car to get my wallet which I had forgotten, and I found my G smashed from the front. I thought it could only be the grille but when I inspected the car, the radiator was cracked, the radiator core support was broken, bumper and headlight smashed, and a few bends on the hood. The Dumba$$ responsible for this took off. I spoke with a lady across the street that said she saw a older truck pulling away and driving off from my car seconds after she heard the bang. Police report was made and insurance was called.

On monday morning Mossy Collision picked up my car to inspect and do an estimate for my insurance.**I did NOT pick the shop. my insurance decided to go with nissan/infiniti dealer bull$h!t** the total came out to be $9,437 for all repairs and labor on my car. Insurance said "NO" total loss. My payoff on the G is $10,000 and they valued my G at $15,000. I am now upset because c'mon, headlight, hood, fenders, radiator bumper, core support 9 grand????? I am now left without a vehicle and on public transportation.FML. It happens right...Oh well...thats my long boring heart break story about how I am now without a G35...
Looks you're in California, and I don't know how things work there (or understand much about the state in general). That being said, in Massachusetts, when my old car was declared a total loss, I demanded to retain possession of the car in addition to the insurance check I was to receive. My insurance company, Amica (who I actually really like), relented without too much fighting, and I got to keep my totaled car and got the full check.

If you're convinced your car doesn't need that much work, use the money to fix it and get it back on the road. Just check around to ensure you can insure it again. I was able to insure again at 75% of the total value, but that varies from state to state.

Good luck and sorry to hear about the hit and run. Hope to cops catch the a**hole who did that.

The same thing happened to my G bro, danny(greengoblin) looked at it in person and couldn't even believe they totaled it. One of the worst days of my life.

my car had more damage and the estimate was only $5000 and that was all Infiniti parts and repairing the floor pan. I think they over estimated that

wow that sucks minimal damage and it's totaled. Sounds like it'll work out for the best I didn't even know they made auto loans with interest that high seems like if they felt thay had to charge that damn much interst they wouldn't give you a loan period. My first car I bought new with no credit was a 98 Mustang GT and Ford credit gave me 7% interest. So what's this "turbo" car you're wanting to buy ?

Dam sucks. Don't you have the right to bring it to a body shop of your choice?

I was in a low speed front collision a while ago with my 04 sedan. The insurance company estimated $11,000 in damages and totaled the car. They let me retain the car and gave me a check for 75% of the value (about $9,000). I got the car fixed for around $5,000 and it drives just as well as before. They left the title clear as well. I would advise you to do the same thing if you didn't have that outrageous interest rate. Good luck with your new car.

,How much was the buy back option? same thing happened to my previous car prelude i bought it back for 100$ and parted it out, oh yeah jsut a note to members from my experiences always refuse the first offer they give u, unless its reasonable, they will give u maximum dollar for ur car, so if the buy back option is cheap sell me the spoiler LOL

yeah true, insurance companies would label it with a salvage title, the ministry would label the vehicle as a rebuild if it was repaired (canada), which actually depreciates the value of it. So if you were to resell the vehicle with the used vehicle package and you'd transfer ownership, itd have a rebuild title (if it passed inspection) but i mean the motor would of been a nice spare for a build

But feel sorry for u bro i know how u feel, i dumped alotta money in my previous car
