Dealer pulling my leg?
Dealer pulling my leg?
Hi all. During the summer I was looking for a new car, researched a few cars and concluded that the G35 was the right car for me. That was also the time I found this forum and have been reading it ever since. Anyways, I emailed a dealership for a quote on a 05 G35 and listed the options I wanted which included the Aero Package($550) and Aerodynamic Body Kit($500), but I just got a reply from the dealer saying that the Aerodynamic Body Kit won't be available for the 05 Sedans. He's gotta be pulling my leg cause I checked Infiniti's site and there's an option for it. What do you all think?
Thanks

That's the ticket Einstein....you got it all figured out. He's lying about something that even you could accertain to be truth or fiction in about 5 minutes and 5 phone calls. Most literature/brochures and pricing guides are released FAR in advance of the dealers' even being able to order the first allocation of new cars, and as they say in BOLD print "all option availability is subject to change WITHOUT NOTICE" Just trying to help....that is if you're willing to take the word of aother "leg puller" (aka lying car salesman) Maybe after all these years I'll get into something more respected....maybe selling black market babies.
yea, the dealer told me 2 weeks ago that the only 2 interior colors that the g35 had were Wheat and Black. I asked about the grey and he said they didn't make them. A few days later when I came back ready to buy I told him that I knew it came in grey and he admited it. I ended up getting the wheat, but I am 100% positive that his reasoning was that he knew I wanted a white one, and knew he only had wheat and black available.
They will try and tell you what you want to hear, and if they sense that you don't like what you are hearing they will lie.

Thanks for the replies. A few minutes ago I had another dealer call me and told me that they have the Aerodynamic Body Kit as an option. I have yet to talk to the first dealer who said that the body kit was unavailable. I've only emailed him. I think he's trying to sell the cars on the lot w/o the kit as ABQ_G35 stated.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I'm sure your toes weren't meant to be stepped on, and that there are many 'good' ones out there, and kudos to them, but the comments were directed at the miriad who will 'stretch the truth' to sell you a vehicle.
Many of us have been there and heard it, just as ASArbalest suspects he has.
Those are the ones that ruin it for your profession.

Seriously though, I agree that people dog car salesmen way too much. It's not their fault that the general public refuses to do any type of research whatsoever, in addition to having no bargaining skills to speak of.
Nice response X, that was hella funny =)

When I get into work, in about two hours, I'm going to copy and post the dealer order/option spec sheet. Hopefully this will answer all questions and allow me to hold my "leg pulling" head up high once again. In the meantime ....I gotta go,.......I see an unattended baby....woohoo

Well, I've got the take it to the bank low down for the G35 sdn. aero kit. 1.) NOT AVAILABLE on the "X". 2.) for $550 you get the front bumper lip spoiler and the color matched splash guards.....that's it...woohoo. 3.) for another $500 you get the rear deck spoiler on either the rear drive or "X". That's all that's available. You're welcome, you're freindly leg pulling, lying, skulking in the dark, baby snatching Infiniti salesman JBX
Now, now I didn't want this thread to become a bashing against dealers. I know that they're just doing their job, but they should know that there are people, like myself, who research their car before buying. As gsedanman said, the dealers that "stretch the truth" ruins the dealer's image and people think that they're all bad. There are decent dealers and there aren't. JBX, you shouldn't take it personally because you're probably a honest saleman, but you know that there are unprofessional salesmen who do "stretch the truth" or plain out lie. In the end, I want to get a price where both parties agree and we both come out satisfied. I should've mentioned that I was looking for the RWD and not the X.
Playing around using the online "build a G" from the Infiniti site, I was not offered the aero package or body options for the X.
Building a 6MT or 5AT I was offered the Aero Package & Body with the Spoiler or without.
Be careful, as dealers will try and get you for the Body w/ spoiler and then add on the Aero Package saying this is the only way they come.
This way they can charge you $1600 for $1050 worth of options. Stand your ground... that's a set of springs, clear corners, metal brake pads and an intake system you're giving away and paying interest on! If the dealer stands firm on the extra $550, it's the only way it comes, ask to see the car. If they don't have it, chances are the car is at another dealer. Go find that dealer!!
Aero package ($550) includes:
• Spoiler
• Under body Diffusers (this reduces your drag coeff. and af/mkt they run about $75)
AeroDynamic Body kit (w/ spoiler $1100.. .or without $550)
It is also important to note that the kit is color matched and pre-installed on your car.
• Spoiler (optional)
• Aerodynamic Front Bumper
• Side Sills (set of 2)
• Rear Spoiler
• Rear Under Spoiler
Splash guards cannot be used if you have the Aerodynamic Body Kit

In all the 'fun' I forgot to welcome you to our fair site. My bad.
Good luck with your car search, and I'm confident you'll end up getting exactly what you want, for a price you want to pay. Happy hunting
