If you want cheap, get the Megan system, if you want cheaper and better quality, get the HR Y, coupe mid and see which muffler you think sounds best. For the Y pipeand mid, check the classified on here and my350z.com; they are getting rare and expensive so start looking.
Also, plenty of shops can weld a 3" cat back system ranging from $300 to $450, imo nothing sounds and performs better than motordyne for our cars. The VQ exhaust is rare, there were only 8-10 made, and cost ~$800 for a mid and axle back, but worth every penny. Just ask Blue Dream, he's got Motordyne from the ART pipes to the Dual Axle back, I guess you could have a shop try and replicate it.

I'm running a megan hr y-pipe, custom mid pipe(removed resonator), and a magnaflow axleback. The exhaust note can't get any better! I'm in love with my exhaust sound, minimal droning and still has that g35/350z finesse.

Best sounding sedan exhaust I have heard but will be almost impossible to procure any more. I don't thik a shop would be able to duplicate the sound, but might be able to come close. Tony spends hundreds of hours in R&D to get his stuff right. This setup also netted me 17 more HP over my old set up of stock cats, HR Ypipe, Coupe mid, and stock muffler.

There's no way the Motordyne system could be copied 100%, but it can come close if its a good enough shop.

I just bought a tanabe medalion catback for $450 on amazon. I'll let you guys know how it sounds. Not to thread jack, but do I have to get the bracket for the 03-04 g35 or would it be possible to relocate the old one? I have an 06x.

jacked...

The midpipe does not matter. A coupe midpipe will work as well and might be easier to find. But yes the Y-Pipe has to be 07+ or it will be a waste of money.

As for completing it with the muffler, either HKS or Magnaflow will be fine. Check out this thread. The drone gets much better as the system settles.

I too just got my Tanabe Medalion y-back from Amazon yesterday. Price was great + I got 5% cash back with my Chase Visa card.

The system looks amazing! My wife thinks it looks cool too. I have the '07 HR Y-pipe ready for the install. Just need to order the '03-'04 muffler hanger parts for the install.

OP, you need to look into this system. $452 from Amazon shipped. Sound clip for the Tanabe is on page #47 of the Sedan Aftermarket Exhaust sticky here in the sedan section.

If you need a little more sound, but not HKS level, get a muffler from an 03-04 sedan. They are smaller than the 05-06, so more sound.
