if you could do it all over which would u buy
Hey guys,
been trolling for a while, drooling, and coming back. The question i have now that im ready to join with an actual g35, is if you could do it all over again would you get the RWD or X.
- My choice has to be auto (wife doesnt want to have to learn stickshift)
- I live in atlanta so i wont need AWD all the time but on occassion we get pretty bad rain and theres a possiblity of moving north (like carolinas)
- also the X is slightly heavier and ive been reading about the suspension situation with lowering options.
So Do you regret not getting an X or getting one? And why would u lean either way?
Thanks for the help, cant wait to get back into a Nissan.

well for me I didnt need the AWD at the time because I was in Cali. I have no experiences with the infiniti awd system at all but if i was looking for an awd i think i would go subaru or audi. As far as driving rwd in snow/rain etc... i only owned 2 fwd cars and it has been overseas and for about 6 months total, the other 7 years of driving were all rwd platforms (e30x2, s13, z31,G) and i would most definetly say that if you know how to drive the rwd platform it is perfectly fine to drive in snow/rain all that... i've lived in italy and germany since 06 and i can tell you in germany we actually get snow and i've passed by people in my e30 and G up slopes while there are little vw's and whatnot spinning out trying to get up a maybe 10* hill lol so i dont think that you should worry about it plus with the 4wd system you have to remember if the cv shafts go you have 4 to replace instead of 2 and more seals to leak out of... but like i said i dont have the X so i might be biased

im seeing some x's for the same prices as the regulars but i have been a long time believer that more moving parts more headaches. id prefer the RWD, and honestly the auto is better for atlanta traffic but just wanted to get a feel for what everyone thought. I know in previous purchases ive said man i shoulda gotta.... just didnt want to do it again. Ill get a 350z for my project car in a few years so im ok with auto for now.

Since you don't see snow on the regular, I can't see the point of getting a X. Like you stated, more moving parts means more headaches and things that could require fixing down the road. Also the added weight kills your mpgs. I went with a rwd for these reasons myself and have zero regrets.
If this will be your first rwd car, take it easy on those rainy days and invest in some good all season tires.

I live in Arkansas and went with the X. The last three winters we have seen crazy snow and sleet and my RWD was stuck in the driveway. Also, when running those ol'country backroads early in the morning, the AWD keeps me on the road much better than my buddies RWD. As far as gas mileage goes, I didnt buy my car for the carpool lane!
