Recently my 05 sedan is not shifting right. When it shifts to 5th, it goes back to 3rd. The tranny display will say 5 however. Fluid level looks good, no burnt smell either. Sometimes when on the freeway it will want to go to 3rd but then 5th engages. Even in manual mode it will not go into 5th gear. Any thoughts?

Have there been symptoms of this happening in the past or is this straight out of the blue?
Have you done any transmission flushes or changed AT fluid?
car has 150k mikes. I havent done a tranny fluid change yet. Havent had it for a long time. I was getting a p1764 code saying that the direct clutch solenoid wasnt working. I was going to replace the solenoid itself but it seemed to work itself out on its own. Now it is doing this, but there is no check engine light on. I know there was a way to reset the trans computer by using the key. Anyone know how to do it?

Sorry but my car, same year, with similar milage, is doing the same thing. I got code for high\low clutch solenoid valve was bad. I flushed, it got better, then real bad, flushed again, and now the code is gone but the transmission is shot. Car will slip between shifts and shudder really bad sometimes.
Time for a new transmission

I know when it goes into safe mode. This is not the case. It says its going to 5th but it goes into third instead. The fluid level is good, so is the color however it does smell a little burnt.
I just want to know if it is an issue with the solenoids or is it a clutch pack thing that needs to be replace?
why does the dealership say that there is no tranny filter for this car. I called and they said there is no filterfor the car, it just takes a fluid change. I look online and there are filters for sale. Brings up a lot of confidence in service departments.

there is no filter. There is a mesh screen and thats it. It is very very hard to find places that will sell individual solenoids. A new valve body is 800-1200 depending on where u get it.
I just got my transmission fixed. I replaced it with one from the junk yard with 50k miles. Also added an external cooler and by passed the oem one.

I found a place that sells the solenoids. Going to try to change the fluid, see if it helps it
