Help, almost went to the othe side..

I will try to make it short guys sold my 2003 G sedan and want to buy a used car.. Thought the Benz C300 looked great but after test driving it I realiozed its under powered
and the steering was way too lose so I went running over to Infifniti where I belong. Here is my question, they have a 2008X with 33,000 miles and a 2009X with 20,000 miles. From the outside they are the same car and I know the 2009 has 3.7 with a 7 speed AT that some guys don't like. They want 29,900 for the 09 and 25,900 for the 08. I am going Monday to drive both cars and just wondering what would be a fair price for me to pay and for them to make a few pennies. I like the trim in the 08 better but will I regret not having the 3.7 and if I buy the 09 will I regret the transmission issue Help....

I would offer 10 grand, that is probably what they paid the guy who traded them in.

I don't know exactly how much each car is worth but I would get the '09. I have an '08 and while it's nice I would rather have the 7AT with the 3.7 because it's probably more efficient while being faster. Driving the G37 isn't that much different. It's a little more powerful but you can't really notice the transmission unless you floor it. If you don't really care about the transmission and going 0-60 in 5 seconds instead of 6 just get the '08.

Find out what trade in value is on both cars. Then find out what the resale value is (what they should be asking). I would start just a few hundred dollars over what the trade in value is and if they want more than 1k over trade in, I would walk away.

I am sure they raped the previous owner on trade int, don't let them do it to you also.

I went on KBB and checked the trade in value of a base 2009 G37 with 20k miles in excellent condition; it is 23,603. I can bet you they lowballed the previous owner at around 18-19k. I would start them at 22k and go from there (I wouldn't go over 24k). If they balk, ask them to show you what they bought the car for. If they aren't willing to do that, then walk away.

Try trading in a car for what KBB says and I guarantee you they will offer you 2-3k less.

Agreed, I bought my G $900 under trade in value. Dealer wanted $22,995 and I paid $18,000, the manager walked out and showed me their auction sheet where they bought the vehicle for $18,9xx. If you are seriously interested, leave your number and be sure to show the interest and possibly put some cash down. Once they counter your offer a few times and its still too high, you can walk away from the vehicle. If they are interested in selling the vehicle they will call you back, a down payment will help you a lot.

Thanks guys I appreciate your input, I checked Kelly's Blue Book for a 2008 X premium with 30,000 miles and it gave me $26,199 maybe I'm doing something wrong, not sure...

I have a guy that said he can get me one around 19000 but he never seems to get them and I have a feeling he will come in with a higher price and the car will have higher milage.

I will offer the dealer 21,000 for the 08 and tell him a true story this summer when I saw a 08SX,a real beauty outside a Nissan dealer with a price tag of 269000, I blew it off and did not even go in but several months later I went in and the young sales guy slipped up and said they bought the car for 19000 and I said thats a nice profit, (greedy) I said to myself.

I will ask him to show me what he paid but whose to say some numbers have not been changed, I'm willing to pay 1000-1500 above their cost...

Offer him 2000 under the maximum you are willing to pay to give haggle room. Then negotiate from there and, as the other poster stated, be willing to walk away. The idea of giving your number is good, so if they change their mind, they can recontact you.

Its a done deal, I feel I paid a premium but there were some advantages such as:

Auto remote came with the car
They will throw in some new tires
Its was owned by a 73 year old
Low milage
The location of the dealer
Selling my car through them to save 900$ in taxes
and 0.09 in financing

I paid 24, I would have prefered 23 but due to the above I bit, will have it Friday night.

Now for the fun stuff, de-badge the G35X and get it lowered, looks like its on stilts

Any thoughts, I know there is tons of info on the site but I'm guessing it should be Eibach's
Prokit...

Just out of curiosity why did you get the '08 vs the '09?

I don't think 24 is a bad price at all for an 08 with 33k on it. Hope you enjoy it

5000$ lower price was one big reason and the trim in the interior was another and the
22 diffrence in HP seemed small and heard some negative things about the transmission plus I will upgrade to a 2014 if they come out with something nice.

I will keep the 17 inchers and thought about getting tires that are 225-50-17, the car should sit little bit lower and with the Eibachs I'm thinking I can get a height I would like..

Are sways worth it, guess I will wait and see how she rides with the Eibachs to decide.

Soon to be 2008X sedan stock

The Eibach Pro kit is not a big enough drop to use that tire, it will look too small on the car; I would personally do something like a 245/50 so it has some meat and keep the same rolling circumfrence as stock. The 225/50 is a difference of 3.5% smaller where as the 245/50 is only .4% smaller than stock.
