1/4 of a quart in 3000 miles is what I read the other day.... 1/2 quart doesn't seem too bad though

make sure that you dont have an oil leak, i have been checking my oil weekly and noticed that i was slowly losing oil then i thought oh $HlT! my car is consuming oil. i took it to my mechanic when my window motor was not working then he put the car on the lift just to check if anything else needed attention. turns out that the oil pan was leaking and also the oil filter housing gasket was. i never noticed oil on the driveway but then again the plastic engine shield on the bottom of the engine was holding oil from dripping down to the ground.

my car is an 04 coupe 5AT

I'm pretty sure it doesn't leak. I don't drive very much so the leak would be microscopic for it to leak that slow. I wasn't aware that from the bottom to the top of the dipstick was only 1/4 quart. Should I get some oil to add to it or just wait?

That's not what he was saying. He was saying that you are only 1/4 quart low because that's what your dipstick shows. The crosshatch portion of the dipstick represents 1 quart of oil. If you are at the bottom of the crosshatch, you put 1 quart in. You could put 1/4 of a quart in; it won't hurt anything.
