2006 G35 Remote starter light problem

Hey everyone, i am wondering if there is someone that can help me. I have a 2006 G35 sedan 6spd that i had my shop install a remotestarter with the datalink bypass mod. I follow the precess to engage the remote start so that i am out of the car while its running, hit the lock button and it shuts off. The problem is that the lights (when in the auto position) stay on. We have been un able to figure out why they will not shut off. This only happens when i use the remote starter so I know its not the car.

Thanks

It should go off in 30 seconds.

If you're talking about the dome light that is.

And if its the headlamps then thats really weird.
The way mine works is that if I remote start my vehicle; the only way you can remote shut off the car is by pressing the remote starter button again (this also turns off the headlamps)
Locking the car should not shut the engine off.

It is the headlamps not the dome lights. for this starter the locking of the door shuts it off, the reason is cause it is 6spd so it wants to make sure no one is in the car.

are you leaving the headlights on auto? if so, that may be the reason, might not be able to use auto lights....

What kind of RS/Alarm is it? If its a DEI unit, you should take it back and have them look for and hook up the neutral safety wire (so it won't start in gear) to the NS wire from the RS/alarm, then program it as an automatic and you can forget about all that pre-setup BS. Most Nissan manual's, the NS wire is green/white at the ECU, you could have them call DEI and ask if it hasn't been found on this forum yet.

To answer the original post: the car is not seeing the driver door open/close upon exit of the vehicle. With pretty much most japanese cars if you started the car with the auto lights on and then turned the car off but did not exit the vehicle, the lights would stay on until your battery died. Most times when installing a r/s system on an autolight car a relay must be wired up to break the autolight wire(which costs extra parts and labor) or the drivers door trigger has to be pulsed through a relay (extra parts and labor again!) but this can trigger factory/aftermarket alarms. Or you can leave the autolight switch in the off position.

Thanks, I will give the relay a try, and let you know.

hey Guys, sorry to bring up an old thread. I installed a remote starter two weeks ago, and i'm having this problem. Does anyone have any info on how to wire this relay? Which wire for the autolight circuit needs to be broken and what output on my DEI alarm should the relay be connected to? It can't be the door trigger because that would disable the reserve mode of the remote starter. I'm using a CAN bus interface to connect the alarm to the door trigger (and almost everything else) so I can't diode isolate the circuit. Any ideas?
