2005 6mt

I'll most likely be picking one of these up tomorrow. Dealer worked out a price of 32,350 with premium package. Its Diamond Graphite, Graphite interior with the 6 speed tranny. Is this a good deal?

I was pretty excited to hear that they have 298hp to, I drove one today and it felt the same as the 04, I figured its such a small difference it wouldn't be that noticeable (no torque change).

Something I was wondering is how easy it is to make this car sound like the coupe. They have the engine tuned the same way, so whats different that the sedan has a weak groan while the coupe purrs?

Is there anything I should look for or any problems I should expect?

I'm not sure what area you're in.. but checking Carsdirect.com for my zip code, it gave a price of $32,317 (including destination charge) for a 2005 6MT sedan.. one of my friends took the print out of a Carsdirect quote to a dealer and asked the dealer to beat it.. from what I recall, the dealer gave him an additional $100-200 discount, but using this method should get you a price atleast lower than $32,350..

In my own search for a 5AT, I sent off an email to Cerritos Infiniti in, strangely enough, Cerritos California and they came back with a "fleet price" of $32,907 for a 2005 5AT sedan with Premium Package (including destination charge).. the 5AT is $350 more than the 6MT.. additionally, the Premium Package C (available without Sport) for the 5AT versus Package A for the 6MT (at least how they are listed on Carsdirect) is ~$300 more.. so based on these numbers, Cerritos Infiniti should be able to offer a 6MT for roughly $32,250.. and this is without even setting foot in the showroom and "playing the game" (just sent one email)..

Of course, YMMV

Very cool Nickk6. Congrat!

The sedan's exhaust note is toned down because it is after all a sedan. Just remember, it's much eaiser to make louder than quieter.

Let us know how the new manual tranny and clutches feels ... also if you grind any gears. May be take some pics of your intake and exhaust, so we can compare.

Other than that ... enjoy!

I test drove it today back and back with the Acura TL, it wasnt as smooth in the shifiting or in the engine. Felt a bit rough, but compared to the TL, compared to the STI i wanted before it was great.

Let me know how much you ended up dealing with the 05 6MT sedan. I, too, am looking for a deal for one of these in SoCal.

Good luck dealing!

Still working with several dealers before I go in and buy. Dealers I am looking at, Mission Viejo (nearest dealer, but think they are *******s), Costa Mesa, and Cerritos, they are all giving me low prices.

Just gotta make sure I want the sedan and not the coupe.

Congrats on being a soon to be owner. Hope everything goes through for you. When I bought my '04 6MT Sedan when they just first came out in late '03 I was able to get one for $500 over invoice after a few tries. I see the invoice including destination for the package your looking at is $31,317. So $32,350 works out to be about a grand over invoice. Not too bad but I'm sure with some work you could get someone to beat that. Good luck. And to be sure of which model you want to get it basically comes down to do you want a 4 dr or a 2 dr? Looks are subjective so thats a personal choice. The performance numbers difference in stock trim between the two is small and negligible, giving the slight edge to the coupe.

Ok, well I am happy to say I bought the Sedan. Coupe looks a bit better to most, but being an owner of an Altima and 300zx, I chose to get another sedan since they are more comfortable and useful.

I ended up getting a Diamond Graphite/Graphite, Navigation, Premium and Spoiler for 34,454. This is not the best price, but it just came off the truck with no test drive miles and it had the exact options I wanted. So by the time I got it out the door with warranty(7yr 100k), finance and tax/registration/license, about 42,000.(eeek!!! its still a nissan).

Well, I still have two hours until they finish it (PDI and cleaning). I havent even driven my baby yet . Ill post up pics tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Nickk6...

Wow! 42k!

So, which dealership are did you ended up going? MV? Costa Mesa? Can you email me some info like the financing charge? I've talked to MV Infiniti and the best they can do for an 06 MT is 900 over invoice. I think I can do better.

Anyway, congrats on your new ride! Lets see some pics!

Heh, yeah 42k for a nissan after my Altima took me through hell.

Sticker was 36,710 I think, they dropped it down to 34,454 with a AAA discount.
34,454
-6,000 down payment
+1,500 for warranty
+2,700 for tax and that regular bull
+3,400 for financing (4.44% through infiniti on 4 years)

Monthly payment is 750. Do I think I got a good deal? No I don't think the car is worth more than 30,000, but all the other cars drove like crap or were under powered, with the exception of the TL which is a better car(quality, resale, value and smoothness), just got tired of FWD. So coughing up an extra several grand is not financially devastating, I have a car I'll enjoy to drive in.

Sorry, forgot to mention, Mission Viejo Infiniti, which again was not my first choice of dealership to do business with. I went to Costa Mesa to get a coupe which was supposedley 33,900, when I got there, I thought the jack *** salesman didn't know what he was talking about, then I realized he assumed I was interested in an Automatic after I told him earlier, "6 speed". Then found this G35 Sedan at Mission Viejo, came off the truck with no test drive miles.

I really like the TL but the FWD is a big turn off(last car was a 6MT CL). Infiniti kind of has the market on the RWD 30ish 6MT market right now. That's probably why is car is priced where it is.

Well, I am not complaining, the next car up with 300hp is a GS430 and 55K was really out of the price range.

Got bored last night and of course when you have a brand new G35 in the garage you are going to go look at it.

I love the new color matching panels

The shifter, what driving is all about

Looks sweet at night.

To cold to get out of the garage and take some good pictures, but weather will suck for a bit.
