Crank sensor issues

So i hit 65,000 last night and well i guess the car got mad. First time i ever had an issue with the car.

I was going down the road about 25, it was about to shift and the whole car jerked, like when a noob driving a manual. I looked at my RPM and dropped to zero, PS got hard and all the lights came on, i was able to cost and into a side street. LUCKILY no one smashed into me. Put the car in park and it started right back up and no issues.

I come to a light and dead, started it up again and made the turn back on the main road and DEAD in the middle of the road, I was at a stand still and now it didn't start just kept cranking. As i was getting out ready to push it to the side, i tired once more and the car started up. Took it home about 20-30 miles away going the speed limit at 35mph. No more issues.

Pulled the fault code today. P0355 Crankshaft position sensor A circuit. Been searching around the boards and found its hit or miss with just replacing the sensor. Most people get that with code with cams sensor faults, since obviously the need to match up. But i only got P0355, Anyone have these issues?

Anyone know if its the same sensor as the Z? heard it on the bottom and easy to get to. Didn't have time to pull up the FSM

Had the same damn issue with mine. Got crankshaft sensor code but the culprit were the two camshaft sensors.

Code was so useless. Took a month to figure this out. May be for you it might be the crankshaft (which is a 5min swap max). If that doesn't fix it then DEFINITELY check out the camshafts.

I had the same symptoms as well - rpm jumping, car jerking, and going up a hill was damn near impossible. My car didn't shut off though...

Other possible problems that popped up in my research were: bad grounding, bad knock sensor wires, and rusty flywheel

crank sensor fixed it. Under $50 Easy to replace just one 10mm bolt. from under the car. Nothing to remove
