How to fix high idle (P0507) after Throttle Body cleaning!
This Obviously wont work for everyone, but i read a lot of forums on TB's about how to fix your car from high idle after cleaning the Throttle body. I tried the relearning procedures tons of times and it worked but every time but once i shut off the car it went back to high idle. i cleared the codes, unplugged the battery over night (Twice) took it apart and threw it back together again. Nothing was working, finally last night, did just a little something different but it made all the difference for me.
I took our code reader and cleared the codes in the car. started it for like 10 sec to make sure the SES went off then shut it off. Disconnected the battery, and THIS TIME I disconnected the electrical harness that attaches to the TB. i Let the car sit from 8pm last night till about 3pm today. Got home from work plugged the TB harness back in and the battery. Got in the car did the first 8 steps to the relearning procedure.
Operation Procedure:
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch ON and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
wait 10 more sec
Operation Procedure:
6.Leave ACC pedal as is
7.Turn IGN switch on 3-4 sec
8.Turn IGN switch off at least 10 sec
Then i started the car, drove about 5 miles down the road till it was nice and warm. Pulled over shut off the car for 10sec and did the rest of the procedure
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
7. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds:
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications:
after i started the car the idle was how it was supposed to be, i drove the car where i work to pick a few things up, let it idle outside in the parking lot for about 10 min and drove it home total of 20 mile drive. I was scared to shut it off and see my idle shoot up again. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND MADE SURE I STARTED IT WITHIN 10SEC OF SHUTTING IT OFF! For a sec the idle seemed high but before my eyes could blink it went back down to about 650 and held idle.
I hope this helps you, if you have this problem because this is the only thing that worked for my car! Good luck!
O and a little tip it says wait 7sec before you fully depress the pedal, wait 7.5 to 8 it works every time that way!

Thank you so much. I followed the whole procedure and it worked perfectly. I believe the disconnection of the TB harness, the battery disconnect, and the final restart within 10 seconds of shutting it off are critical. I have been driving around with a 1,300rpm idle for 2 weeks since I cleaned my TB. I just cleaned by 2008 550i TB a week before and had no issues.
Thanks again, I tried every other reset procedure 4 to 5 times but THIS WORKS!!!!

I opened the valve and scrubbed with TB cleaner. I did all the wrong things you shouldn't do. I did disconnect the battery and the harness but where I messed up was it was raining and I connected the neg battery term so I could roll the windows up and the TB harness was still undone. None the less, all the other reset procedures would work until I restarted the car. This works!!!!!!
