Since I referenced this thread in another I figured I could bump it for an update from myself and anyone else that posted here.

I am at 124k miles today and am still on 2,000 mile oil and filter change intervals. I am NOT topping my oil off between changes.

The car still runs very strong and I am overall pleased. I used the 6k I had saved for my engine build and paid the car off a few weeks ago.

I am still confused why some insist on running a thicker weight synthetic oil instead of conventional.

Any updates from anyone else?

I drove 5k miles on 0w40 and it didn't fix it, but helped slow it down a lot. I just did an oil change and am trying pennzoil conventional 5w30 so we'll see how this works out.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My '05 6MT Sedan is not burning oil yet. I'm sitting at 73,000 miles.
