dead battery after taking it out of storage/issues now

So I took my car out of storage the other day...battery was stone dead. I charged it all night and it started right up. I drove it to work and at lunch it started slowly. After work it started slow again. This morning it started slow but after work it was dead. The alternater is putting out 14.4 volts. Once I jump started it today I noticed its shifting funny. Its jumping thru the gears at lower speeds. I've read before that when the batterys die that the car goes thru a learning process. Could this be what's happening? Also...is a bad battery a obvious answer as well? Thanks everyone

Battery seems to be the culprit. Recharge it and take it to one of the chain auto parts stores like Autozone and such. If it has enough charge to start up, they can load test the battery and alternator to confirm which thing should be replaced. That way you don't pay for something you don't need.

Now I live in the desert, so I don't need to store a car for the winter. But I was under the impression that you should disconnect the battery during winter storage and keep the battery on a battery tender (trickle charger) to keep it charged? I think batteries have a tendency to go bad if they aren't kept charged.

Well usually, with my other cars I would go out once a month or so and start them up to let them idle. The infinity was started a few times also but one time it was so dead that it clicked and wouldn't start. I'm positive its the original battery so being 9 yrs old, it doesn't surprise me that its shot. I'm also curious about the shift issues. Is that a result of it being dead?

Its dead because its a 9-year-old battery, replace it. I don't even see the need to make a thread. Clearly, if it's that old its overdue for a new one...

Ok. True enough. I'm not too concerned about the battery. Your right, its due. I'm more curious if the funny shifting is a result of the battery dying. Is the computer going thru a learning process or??

Very likely. Change the battery and then re-assess how it drives. If it doesn't improve come back with your questions and symptoms it presents. Maybe someone can help then.
