$13k of a 05 WRX. i would hold out for a STI or consider the newer WRX.

If you wanted the drivetrain but want a little more luxury then a WRX then get a Legacy GT. Similiar bottom ends of the 2.5 STI motor.

Of course its not a G. I myself am looking to a little more higher MPG rating if i was to upgrade.

what exactly do you want out of the wrx? are you just wanting something for autocross and "spirited driving?" do you have another dd or is your g your only means of transportation?

i've actually been wanting another car i can mod and have fun with. i'd like to get into autocross and also maybe learn to drift while having another dd that i can count on to get me back and forth to work when the toy is on downtime. i keep doing more and more to the g but i'd really like something i can abuse and have alot of fun with on my off days. right now i'm stuck with the g which i'm definitely happy with for commuting, traveling, etc. i just want something i can do more with recreationally.

wrx isn't that fast. STI is.

But it's not hard to make a wrx just as quick as a stock sti.

Anyway. I just came from an evo. I used to have an 05 coupe. Sold it for the evo. Got tired of it. Sold it and went back to a G35 coupe.

The whole turbo 4 door rally sedan is good for some people. not for me. maybe later on if I have extra money to play with i'll get one but I think I'd rather have luxury and comfort as a primary car.

I owned an 2005 STi and it was terrible, I think you will definetly regret it. The combination of class power and comfort the G offers far exceeds anything a WRX or STi can offer. Also if you do some research on the STi's you'll find that they aren't reliable at all.

I just sold a 2005 Legacy GT 5 speed due to a blown turbo. These turbos often blow sending metal throughout the engine.
Didn't want to go down that road so I sold is for an 06 G35 6speed sedan.

You will be disappointed with the cheap interior, rattles and squeaks. The G35 interior doesn't compare.

The G35 has a much flatter power curve, where the turbo Subaru's have a quite a bit of lag until you hit about 3k rpms, than it hits hard.

Mods are much easier with Subaru, but don't expect the WRX to be trouble free, especially an 05.

A lot of good advice. I advice against it too.

I too looked Legacy GTs but insurance prices drove me away and Im glad it did because of the complaints I keep hearing.

I drove a 04 wrx before settling on the G35. The wrx felt like a toy car... I didn't like it at all. If you were getting a newer 09+ wrx maybe but other wise you will feel like you went backward in quality and feel.

I came from the WRX world before I got my G35. I just wanted something that IMO was a little more "mature" looking. Def. less paranoid driving around in the G35.

The WRX was really fun to drive though.
