Rotor and Brake Pad DIY
Rotor and Brake Pad DIY
Is there a DIY video to swap out the rotors and brake pads on a 06 G35X? How difficult is this for a beginner to do? I have all the parts (rotors and brake pads) and am trying to save some money on the labor if I can and would also just like to learn.
Thanks!
edit: I did check the DIY sticky and didnt see one in there

There is a video out there. Check on Google and YouTube.
Generally, the most difficult part on the brake job is breaking loose the old rotor. One tip, you can use an M8 bolt to "pop loose" the front rotor. You will see a threaded hole on the rotor. Just tighten the bolt into the hole.
The rear does not have a similar hole, but you can use a 5/16 bolt through the caliper bracket to "pop off" the rear rotor. This is much easier than beating them loose with a hammer.
Keep one lug nut on while you are breaking the rotor free
Good luck

If this is your first time working on cars I don't think a brake job is the best option. If you have a person more familiar with doing that you may want to ask them to help you the first time just to be safe
