New Differential Drain Plugs

I crawled under my '06x to change the differential gear oil. I noticed that the drain and fill caps were pretty rusty. So just to clean things up a bit I ordered new caps. To my suprise, when the order came in the new drain plugs have magnets now! The parts guy said it was an upgrade. I like the idea and thought others might like to know.
What I'd really like is a magnetic oil drain plug.

nice tip! i actually have a magnetic oil drain plug that i purchased from ebay and it came with a nice washer so i dont use the crush washers. but whenever i change my oil i never see any deposits on the magnet so it may not have been necessary. . .

I too have a magnetic oil drain plug that was purchased on eBay. I like the idea of it catching any kinda shavings that may be released into my oil. For just a few dollars it could potentially save you from having bigger problems. I was actually wondering if they made the magnetic plugs for the tranny too. I never thought about the plug for the diff. That's great to know.

What size are the drain plugs for the diff? Are they they same for all models, coupe and sedan? The know oil drain plug is M12x1.25 for my coupe but I'm trying to find out what the manual transmission and rear differential plug sizes are.

i thought all the plugs were magentic aside from the oil plug.

When i did my first drain and fill at 30k there was a good amount of metal shavings on it.

You guys with the magnetic drain plugs, anyone think it MIGHT do more harm then good if the magnet breaks loose and someone clogs the oil pickup or etc.

My plugs were all magnetic on my '06. All except the oil drain plug.

I remember having to clean shavings off all of them the first time i did the fluid changes

I got my plugs from the local Nissan/Infiniti dealer. The parts guy had to order them for me.

I am almost certain the drain plug on the diff is magnetic but the fill plug is not. Seems to me that would make sense too. This is an 03 Sedan.
