Newbie with suspension questions

First off. Awesome forum! I have had my 2003.5 premium package sedan for two years and have been coming here to lurk ever since. Good group of very informed drivers here.

I just bought new wheels and tires over the internet machine. MRR GT1 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with 245 35R19 in front and 275 30 R19 in the rear. They will be here from CA to CT in just under two weeks

I want to lower the car with the G/Z combo but before I shell out more cash I want to be sure that this will lower the car enough to remove the gap.

I also came across some reading on here that I may have rolling diameter issues with those tires. F = -3.8% and rear -4.9%. How problematic is this and should I call and change my wheel and tire order to 20's or larger tires for the 19's. I initially wanted 19's because I drive my car like I stole it and I read somewhere on here that you sacrifice some performance with such a large wheel. So confused now.

Hmm, lots to cover there. I don't think you'll have issues with tire diameter but I'd be a little concerned about fitting 275s in the rear without rubbing...if you post the offsets people may be able to tell you whether you will have to roll/pull your fenders. On my sedan with G/Z drop and +33 offset, I had to roll my rear fenders to fit 255s.

Offsets are +33 F and +40 rear. Was told by the vendor that they should "tuck"

I'm concerned about the lower rolling diameter setting off the VDC all the time.

I changed my tire order to 245/40 and 275/35. These have a less than 1% difference to my stockers according to this kick *** tire size comparison page I found on another thread.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Once I get the rims installed I'll throw some pics up.

Nice^^

However to keep your VDC happy you don't need to keep close to the stock tire sizes, just make sure there is less than 3% difference in the front and rear diameters. Your 245/35 and 275/30 combo would have worked just fine with only a 1% difference. You'll have a smoother ride with the new set up however due to the larger sidewalls.

Now that makes sense!
