G35 Sedan stalling with SLIP light

I did do a search prior to posting this and none of the scenarios matched mine 100% nor were there any real solutions...FYI..

My car is a 2003 sedan with about 92,000 miles on it. Part of my troubles started when I installed a ztube. After installing the ztube the car stalled a few times and I got CEL. After checking codes, it was the camshaft position sensors. I had those replaced and all was well for about 2 months. Recently, I was on the highway and the car just stalled out of no where. It freaked me out. The difference this time was that there was no CEL. The only light that came on was the SLIP light. So far this has happened 3 times. In each case, I turned off the car for 2 minutes and it started right back up no problem.

Question #1 - Even though I didn't get a CEL, could the computer still be storing codes that I could scan?

Question #2 - Any other suggestions on what this could be? Is there some known issue with using the ztube?

My car has been rock solid since 40K miles but now after the ztube install it has had several problems with similar symptoms.

Please help!!

Did you take the ztube off and see if your problems stop?

doubt the z-tube has anything to do with it...clean your maf sensor and verify you don't have any leaks...Where did you buy the cam sensors? If you got something other than the oem ones that might be your problem

I got my sensors from an infiniti parts reseller online. They were OEM.

Would something like this throw a code even if I don't have a CEL?

I say clean your Maf, your symtoms match maf issues. For example I cleaned up my engine bay and put it back together forgot to plug my maf in connected the battery and my slip, VDC, and CEL were on I was like huh and it wouldn't rev past 2.5K rpm then I noticed Maf sensor disconnected, now it's good. so I say in your case try cleaning it, and and make sure everything is solid with no leaks.

Well...I took everyone's suggestion. I put the original infiniti tube back in. I cleaned the MAF. So far no stalling but the car doesn't have that little roar it had with the ztube.

I'll report back in a few more days.

Well...after putting the original infiniti tube back in and cleaning the MAF, the car stalled again in traffic.

It only seems to do this when idling. I guess I will drop if off to a local shop and see what they say. My guess is that they won't find anything since the computer is not throwing any codes.

Probally not, but before you take it to a shop why not stop by Autozone or similar and have them scan the ecu just to be sure. Most auto parts store will do it free of charge. If they do get a code, take it to your mechanic and go from there.

well...I changed the plugs which helped but didn't solve the problem. Took it to the dealer and they suggested replacing throttle chamber ($650 with labor). While expensive, it did solve the problem.

Thanks.
