"Hidden" charges at the dealer...
I checked out some car buying sites, but I was wondering what some of your experiences are with "hidden" charges at the dealership when buying your new G. I know the TTL deal, but what about prep/installation charges for say SAt. radio? Anything else that they slip in there at the last minute?
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you asked for the SAT radio...you can hardly call the charges hidden. You can do the install youself, or on the outside, for a good bit less. Besides car buying sites are bogus in as much as they rely on you believing that you can't do as well on your own as they can for you? I don't know where you are but, assuredly, with all the imfo. on the internet and with a good dealer that's willing to work w/you...you should be able to do at least as well as any fa-kakta buying service...if not better. We (where I work) don't go out of our way to do anything extra for a buying service customers other than the pure minimum guideline that Infiniti sets (why should we?). And, the funny thing is... he/she probably could've done better on their own. You've gotta get a "fair break" and the dealer a "fair mark-up"...not too hard of a concept???.There's about a $2,500 to $3,000 mark- up on medium to heavily equipted "G" (But then who doesn't know that?) Don't be scared, do your homework, and get your butt in a "G" Much luck...JBX
Thanks
I'm in Mass, but I am willing to go anywhere in the NE that is going to give me the best price on the car that I want. Colors are TBD, but options are just XM radio, sunroof, and splash guards (which I might just do aftermarket). 2005 6MT, realize I'll most likely have to order this car, which is fine because time isn't an issue at this point. I have all the carsdirect and edmunds info on such a vehicle.

as for "hidden" charges, this is what i would do next time i go to a dealer. write down every option you're getting on the car. then have them describe each option, including cost (w/installation). even if it means sitting there and listening to mundane details. finally, have them add up the costs and then circle the final price. that way there is no confusion.
good luck on the purchase.....and let me know if you come across any good dealerships in mass.
Thanks for the info. I did visit the Infinity in Norwood on rt1, just for a test drive, and wasn't that impressed (with the salesman). I drove an 2004 Sedan manual, and I told him that I probably wouldn't want to buy (or take delivery) on my new car until April or so... With that said, I think he though that I wasn't being serious, that on top of me being probably younger then the average G35 buyer... Anyway, we just went up rt 1 and back down and back in, he didn't say one thing about the car, completely silent unless I asked him a question. Just to make sure he wasn't dead in the back seat, I said that the G35 is just about the same as a Maxima, that got his attention
.
Anyway, that was the end of my visit. I loved the car though!
FWIW they did have a 04 MT coupe in Twilight Blue with a clear bra on it, in the showroom lights, it stuck out like a sore thumb.

if you get a chance, definitely check out kelly infiniti in danvers. ask for Hon Jin Chang (he's a young guy) and tell him Raj sent you. he was very knowledgeable about the car. told me about all the features and was very honest about the features and packages. he said if i'm going aftermarket wheels then don't bother with the factory 19's, and never drive with the 19's in the snow. he let me test drive an 05 auto w/the sport package (yes, it was freezing rain out). we took it on rt. 1 and 95, then some back roads. he even insisted that i peel out of a parking lot just to get a feel for it. he had no problems with me flooring the car on the highway. took it up to 90mph and played with the triptronic shifter
. at the end even the sales manager came out and met me. all this, even though i said i will not be buying till may/june. the only reason i'm looking now cause they say it takes up to 90 days for a new order to be delivered. btw, i'm only 24 years old, so i guess they don't care about my age.
i'm 90% sure i'll give them my business. the nashua dealer wasn't to enthusiastic and by your comments norwood isn't so hot either. although i will check them out one more time.

I know this may sound a little complicated
but why not ask the dealer to see the invoice of the car which if you check kbb beforehand should match perfectly....It's what I did when I purchased my G...I offered them $500 over invoice they countered with $580 and I took it......
