Laser detection in ANY detector is useless I don't care how much it costs or how well it "tests". If a cop gets a beam on you, you are toast. No warning period. The only thing that works is laser "jamming" that is being outlawed in many states, towns and communities.

The only reason to buy a RD is for RADAR.

Yes the ********* with V1s will tell you different, but they are lying. (did I say that? Yes I did. )

The one thing I do know for sure is that if the RD you are considering costs less than $350, don't bother.

8500
9500
Bel high end
V1

These would be the ONLY ones you should consider.

BTW, it appears that "RadarKing" has been re-encarnated as "faiz23".

This question goes out to everyone. If you had the option between the rx65 pro and 8500x50, which would you get?

There were only two options. The Bel rx65 and the Escort 8500 x50.

like i said eariler, they're pretty much the same detector. So go with which ever is cheapest. The BEL does have voice alerts, which does make it unique. Either way both detectors have excellent anti-false alerts...so both are very quiet.

Ok Good to hear. I just bought a used 8500 x50 for $125. I think I got a really good deal. I typically listen to loud music. Will I still be able to hear the alerts.

Escort 9500i i the same system and technology as the V1, comes with the addition of the arrows. They are both designed by the same person, and work almost exactly the same.

With that said, I prefer the V1 as Mike Valentine is the one who left Escort and went on to make his own radar detector with arrows.

And if you think a V1 is expensive, then you haven't seen anything yet:

Mike valentine worked in escort back in the 80's (Started 1976). I am sure they have changed their design a lot since then. I would not say that valentine1 and 9500i are the same. One is a dual horn design versus single horn. I think m4 design on 9500i versus m3 on the redline and even that is a huge difference. If mike valentine knew how to create an undetectable radar like the m3 redline. I am sure he would incorporate that into the valentine 1.

Also i have a laser interceptor dual setup and will Jam any gun you throw at it. The Valentine 1 is really good at picking up laser scatter. That is your only chance of slowing down with laser warning. If the cop is shooting you with lidar then game over but if he is shooting someone else and your detector pics up scatter then you might have a slight chance of slowing down quick enough. Valentine 1 has the best possibility of picking up scatter on the lidar band. Look up the tons of info on radardetector.net and radardetectorforums.org.

Yeah I have spend tons of money on Cheetah GPS mirror, Laser interceptor, Veil, Valentine 1 and Belscort. If I could pick a solid setup then I would but for you...........research.

Also how do you know if your used radar is in tune and in spec. Is it even sweeping the correct frequency or just alerting you to door openers. Have fun with the used radar and the blaring music.....trust me you will see the cherry lights and hear the siren over the music no issues......

BTW.....call me valentine fanboi or escort fanboi....i use the best product at the current time. I have used both escort, bel and valentine and can easily differentiate the benefits. 1 ticket + insurance increase is the difference between the cost of a cheap used detector versus one that is new/in spec and up to date on firmware. I am currently selling my redline and will admit that the range on redline is hands down better than valentine. Situation awarness, bogey counter and arrows are the reason why I chose valentine. Having 1.0 mile range is plenty versus 1.5+ miles range or wicked off axis. Compromise is what is it all about with electronics, women, jobs and life.

Pick up this exact package I did. Ask for the Grand Touring/SAVVY 30 day return package for $409 and 30 day return Concealed Display. Depends where you live only get the Laser interceptor as the laser jammer. $500 will only get you the radar setup and for the time being pick up some veil shield and apply it to your head lights and front trim. Later on save up for Laser Interceptor and use your android/iphone on trapster. Read up on the RD forums about what band they use and what area has lidar in your town/commute.

Nit-pick all you want, these are still just radar detectors and do not help with laser, which are becoming the norm in many areas such as mine. A slight chance of catching an early signal may be great but like shooting a basketball behind your back blindfolded, you still have a much greater chance of missing. If you really want to avoid tickets, don't speed.

So for the rest of us, it just depends on what look and sound you want. Ultimately, these are nice to have as they do give you a bit of detection, but they'll all pick up a lot of bs and they all will get the job done (or not when you run into a laser) just the same.
