Hood is rubbing on fender..Help
Hey guys.. I tried to look through previous threads and get some help there but I came up short..if there is one could someone sticky me please after reading this?
I hit a raccoon a few months ago and cracked the bottom front bumper .. now.. when I open my hood, the top corner (closest to the windshield) of the hood on the passenger side is rubbing against the top corner of the fender.. this freakin sucks because the paint is rubbing away
but I will deal with that after I remedy the first issue.
does anyone have any suggestion as to what it might be? I didn't notice the passenger side bracket/ hinge being bent or anything.. soo im lost

Its your hood hinges. I just had the exact same problem. Go to Infiniti or local body shop, have them order 2 new hinges and they can fix it. It cost me $120 for the parts and labor.
Then go get a tube of touch up paint to fix the chips.

Change them don't just "deal with it" i did the same and had one of my hinges snap because it was unable to move. Even if you grease it now its still already bent and will continue to rub. Also once changed lube them every time you open your hood or every oil change to prevent it from happening again.

Yeah, mine started rubbing, but by doing a few simple steps, it was able to be corrected without replacing the hinges:
1) Put masking tape over the corners of the spot rubbing.
2) Put a thin, strong piece of cloth between the masked corners.
3) Open the hood.
4) Remove the plastic trim from around vent that goes to the a/c filter, and tape over the vent so you don't get any overspray in there.
5) Use PB Blaster (better than WD-40), with the nozzle to get to the hinge.
6) Wiggle the hood up and down just a bit (about 1 foot of movement up and down at the front of the hood) to work it in for about 10 min, reapplying the PB Blaster every couple minutes.
Repeat steps 1-6 every day for a week, increasing the movement of the hood in step #6 each day. You'll notice the movement of the hood becomes more smooth each day.
In the future, simply spray the hinges with white lithium grease, which also happens to be odorless (so you don't have to cover up the filter again), every time you change your oil, and it'll be fine.
I caught mine early, and have not had a problem with it since. The spot it rubs is also pretty much out of sight, so some touch-up paint should cover where it was rubbing shouldn't be noticed.

Hey thanks guys for all the good info.. I think I'm just going to chalk it up and order the two new hinges and replace them.. sounds like the best way to go..
On the bright side of things.. though I got a crack in my front bumper (not to noticeable) but it gives me a perfect excuse to get a JDM bumper or some of the others I seen throughout the forum..
Special shout to jdubin94 and Wrathernaut for give some kicka** feed back... THANKS!!
