Ok, Brilliant Siver, Diamond Graphite, or Lakeshore Slate?
Ok, Brilliant Siver, Diamond Graphite, or Lakeshore Slate?
Guys, I'm trading in my Twlight Blue '03 Sedan for an '05 Sedan AWD. The TB, though pretty when clean, is instantly dirty. I do not want to go through that again. Anyone have an opinion as to which of the three colors I'm considering is the easiest to keep clean? Prob the silver, but I really like the look of the Diamond Graphite. Thoughts?
Brilliant Silver is easier to keep clean, it always surprises me just how much dirt washes off when I wash it. I always shyed away from silver and such colors in the past, because they would oxidize so quickly, but since clearcoat has come around, it is much better.

Dude.....I love my Brilliant Silver (everything matches from wheels to clear corners and it stays clean)....BUT.....there's a Slate X sitting on the showroom floor right next to my desk and I'll tell ya what....it's really grown on me. I'd do one in a NY City second. It helps make the car look as expensive (rich) as it really is. DO IT....pull the trigger on the Slate. Much luck JBX
I had a diamond graphite I35 and it was not to bad to keep clean. The Brilliant Silver is what I have now on my G. I have always liked silver but is it boring. My wife has a denim blue Audi A4 and when clean, it looks GREAT. I think the new slate (while showing more dirt when dirty) will be a sharper car when clean. Blue with a parchment or beige leather ...AHHHH. Now, Infiniti needs a really nice metallic green also. Also, a nice pewter silver like previous years SC430 color.

My laster car was sheer silver, so far I think the DG looks cleaner when dirty. Just my experience from the last 3 years of owning a silver car. Good luck.

My twilight blue 04.5 looks insane when it's clean.
I can only imagine how much nicer a TB 05 would look with the new grill and the color cordinated rocker panels.
Sweet.
For me, TB captures the essence of what this luxury performance sedan is all about.
My advice, stick with it and live with your car looking dirty once in a while.
I also like the Lakeshore slate now, but I worry that it would not be one of those colors I'd like in say 3 years.
But of course color/taste is a very subjective thing anyway ....

Went with the DG on my 05 after spending four years with a dark blue 330. Ugh, that car was a real pain to keep clean and every time it rained it would look like crap from the road dirt.
The DG, on the other hand, is super sharp and really looks great even when a little dirty. Gotta love low upkeep.

I have Brilliant Silver and am also amazed how much dirt comes off when I wash it.
The only disappointing aspect of silver is that you can wax the heck out it but you can never get a mirror finish like you can on darker colors.

after all this rain in socal and the dirt/smog here... DG still looks clean. if you look closely, you can see where hands have touched the car cuz the dirt has been removed. I'll be washing it this weekend but I think it's a toss up between BS and DG. i've had white and silver cars before... the DG just looks richer IMO.
Well, the dealers won't give me what I need on my trade, so I guess I'll have to wait awhile. My spotless '03 with premiuim and chrome wheels, 28K miles, is only worth 20K on trade. This sound right to u guys? I'm in Chicago. Too much supply I guess. Oh well. I'm bummin, this after I negotiated a sell price of 34K for '05 AWD with premium C. Damn!
Try Carmax.
http://www.carmax.com/
They typically give between the poor->good Kelly Bluebook value.
They actually 'buy' your car from you.
You could also try listing it in the Autotrader. Our cars do well in this publication. However, selling a RWD during a Chicago Winter may be tough.

I have the DG on my '04 g35x. I live in the NE with a lot of precipitation and sand on the road. The car looks fabulous when clean but I'm a bit surprised at how quickly it looks dirty when there's some wet weather. My last car was a Passat silverstone grey (almost the same as the DG) and it seemed to keep its clean longer. My guess is that the g35 brilliant silver might keep the clean look longer. Still love my g35 though!
