Hello Everyone,

So I took my car to the dealer because the airbag light blinking and the car was louder than it usually is. I have about 65k on the car right now.

Anyway, the dealer came back with recommended services of over $6,000. I am confused at what I should get done. The airbag light alone is $1750 and change the muffler, B-Pipe and Gaskets is another $1330. Do you think I can get these fixed cheaper somewhere else.

Checked out the PDF document they sent me.

Thank you,
Shootmenow

Just take it to a reputable mechanic around your area and bring the check list with you. Then see if they can get you a quote. Almost always it is cheaper to go with a mechanic shop over the dealership.

An action plan for you:

Cabin air filter can be replaced by any local shop for extremely cheap or you can search the forum for the DIY and do it yourself..

Wiper blades...go to autozone and buy the nicest set they have, probably run you 30 bucks

Drive belts are common to wear out...you can get those new on the forums here from phil@grubbs for about 60 bucks..take them to the same shop that will do your cabin filter. Easy job

Brake pads and rotors? I doubt your rotors are "that" bad at 60k...just have your pads replaced.

Compression rod bushings commonly wear out on our cars, we have a solid bushing option:

pick those up and have any shop press them in.

Oil and fluids, local shop as well...i think you can come out under 1k for all of this service.

Thanks for the action plan and advise. 6k in repairs is crazy. I am going to start ordering items online and then find a mechanic in Chicago.

The dealer told the air bag recall work was already done and this is something new and my car is out of warranty.

Do you think I should have transmission flush or replaced somewhere?

There is a recall for passenger side airbag. If yours the passenger side, dealer should fix it free. I had mine done a while back free.

You don't need to flush it, just replace fluid with Nissan fluid. Must be Nissan fluid.
Any independent shop can do this. The fluid is about $10 qt.

I just briefly read your PDF. There is a big contridiction from your dealer. The "red" area indicated that you need brake pads and rotors. The "green" area indicated your brakes are fine for now! Amazing dealer observations!

It is the passenger side but after searching the net, I only found the recall for 2005 - 2007 models while mine is a 2004. Do you have any documentation of that?

My is 2004 also. I received a notice from Infiniti about the recall and the dealer did it for me. The recall was sent to me last year and I just did it recently. Call another dealer in your area and ask about the airbag recall. Better yet, contact Infiniti directly.
