I recenty purchased a 2004 G35 Sedan, big step up from a 1997 4 cyl Camry, and I was wondering, when you push the trunk release on the remote or on the dash how far up does you trunk lid rise? My wife's new Hyundai opens all the way but mine only opens about 1/2". If i replace the lift cylinders will that help?

+1 on that, or you can try to get a damper in there. it'll definitely pop up the way you wantOriginally Posted by geew1z
It's designed to just pop, not open all the way.

That's awesome - I also upgraded last September from a 1997 4 banger Camry to a 2004 G35 - quite the change, huh?

Welcome to the G community. That is an nice upgrade. For your question, the trunk just pops open. you have to do the rest on opening it up.

I noticed this too, but I kinda like it! Not too obvious when people are around. My wife's camry beeps LOUDLY and JUMPS open, as if saying hey everyone! free **** in here!
I had to drive my Camry one last time about 2 weeks after I got the G35 and I sat there wondering how did I put up with this for 12 years???

I like how the trunk pops up only instead of completely opening. Makes things difficult on rainy days or if you have a bunch on balloons in there (I have two kids).
I made the same upgrade back in 2008 coming from a 1995 4cyl Camry to a 2005 G35. Happy that I got rear-ended, also that no one was hurt, and gave me the chance to pick up a G35. I was able to make the handling great on the Camry, but the increased HP on the G35 makes the world of difference.
