long tube headers are pretty much the most free flowing exhaust mod you can do, so the volume of air that's flowing through is so much higher the ecu cant effectively compensate for it and it runs lean. There is a point where you can actually lose hp from too many bolt ons and no tuning... since you can't just do uprev like everyone else its a difficult situation tho. I would start by getting those extenders and getting the code to go away, any time the check engine lights on your ecu is running in a sort of limp mode, and it will hurt performance and mpg like crazy

yeah simulators, extenders, same deal. Basically you screw it into the O2 sensor bung and it extends it away from the exhaust flow so that it doesn't throw the code. The problem is that the factory sensor is calibrated to sense within a certain range of exhaust flow and when you exceed that it tells the ecu that somethings wrong and throws the code. Even if you are tuned and the A/F ratio is spot on it will still throw the code, and just moving it away from the exhaust flow will often fix the issue.
Uprev is the company that makes Osiris, which is the ecu reflash tuning software that everyone uses for our cars.. Its awesome. Amazing. The bees knees. But your ecu is incompatible... lol The early 03 sedans still use the older maxima ecus and aren't flashable, so unless you want to spend a lot of money or do a lot of work you're SOL in regards to tuning

I was looking to get this style o2 sensor simulator.
http://www.magnumtuning.com/en/produ...nsor-simulator
but it sounds like you are referring to this style, do both do the same thing?

As for my ecu & tuning, that really blows! I m going to double check the ecu box color...

Also I believe that all 6MT's have the newer ecu, not sure tho.
If it looks like this you are good to go:
