Flat Tire :-( Few Questions!

Hey guys! So I got a flat tire on my way to work today. I have a few questions for you guys. First of all how does a tire warranty work? I haven't really had time to take a good look at the tire and the cause but it has only been about 20,000 miles since these were put on and just under 2 years. Am I at a dead end even if it wasn't something like a nail? Will they probably just claim I ran over something and they're not liable?

Also, it's not a big deal just replacing the one tire correct?

Lastly, what and where do you all suggest I get my new tire?

Thanks everyone! You guys rock!

OK I think I may go with one of these these. Seem to get great reviews:

Another thing, if I order a tire online and have it delivered to my home, can I just put it on myself with the same method as changing a spare tire or am I better off just taking it somewhere to get installed?

.

If Sam's club is anything like Costco, they will repair the flat for free provided there was no damage to the sidewall ...

discount tire will also do free flat repair if the nail isn't in the sidewall. I have taken my car there several times with tires I didn't get there and have never gotten a bill from them.

Ummmm, no. If you don't know what you are doin or have the tools, you need to have someone do it for you.

OP - I would take it in to a place like Discount Tire to see if they can repair the puncture. If it is on the sidewall you cannot repair it, and will need to purchase a new tire. You can purchase a single tire, however I would recommend having it shaved down to match the tread depth of your other tires (assuming they do not need to be changed anytime soon). Tirerack offers this service.

If you purchase a separate tire, you will need to take that to a shop to have it swapped out. Even if you managed to get the old tire off and put a new one on, you would need to worry about the balancing portion of it, which I doubt you have the proper equipment for. Shouldn't be too much to do a single wheel/tire though.

Good luck and I hope that helps!

You can shave the tire yourself by doing a burnout.

I have had a tire replaced under warrenty on my truck. In my case, one of the belts broke inside the tire. I had to have it verified by a mechanic, but General Tire sent me a new one then. Not free though, I had about 20k miles on the tires, so I got about 60% off on the new tire.

I would get the same model of tire as your other ones as well.
