Tips for ordering a G35?
I'm planning on finally getting a G35. I know I want a manual, but they are not available here. (UT) I could go to Vegas, but I'd rather buy one here. For those who ordered from the dealer, were you able to get good pricing, or were you at the mercy of the dealer? I might need to make a road trip if so. Thanks for the input.
Oh - FYI, I'm selling my '97 maxima, 5 sp. I'm already a fan of the VQ and familiar with the car.

Just checked with one dealer...
I'm in the same situation, probably have to order to get my color combo without premium, and the dealer said with ordering a 6MT, probably not going to be able to go that much under sticker.
Web site search
I am also from Ut and I had to order mine(05, 6MT, Lakeshore Slate). That was about 3 weeks ago and I was told 60-90 days before arrival.
Shortly after ordering it I found the exact car I was looking for in Austin using the Infiniti web site. I don't know what the extra costs are in buying the car out of state but it might be worth a look. Won't hurt getting a quote from them.

I know oregan and utah have no sales tax... But you have to live there in order to buy cars and other high end items with no sales tax...

The good news. Sales tax is deductible for those who itemize on their federal income tax returns if you live in a state that doesn't have a state income tax. Those living in a state with an income tax have the option of deducting the state tax or sales tax paid. This is for 2004 and 2005 tax year returns.

Going to look at the first 05 6MT the dealer by me just got in the morning. Hopefully I'll be able to find out if they have a Diamond Graphite coming in soon.
They said they have the lighter silver there, with Premium Package, and Aerodynamic Body kit, which is how I want my car.

Ute, Sweet Football season! Wish you guys would have been matched up w/ Texas, OU, or USC though. I'm a BYU fan, but root the UofU on when they're not playing us.
I'd recommend test driving a G35x, since you have the snow (and hills). The maxima is superior car in the snow being front wheel drive, and having a 16" tire as opposed to the low profile wide 18" that the 6MT has. The added surface are of the tire could give you fits in the hills. But, if you don't care, consider an awesome snowtire for winter.
I just wish they made a G35x sport w/ 6mt.
Also, what color's your car? I'm going to Austin to test drive Friday, maybe I could send you a pic. if it's there.

Wasn't any worse than any other car dealer. Wouldn't budge much on the price because the 6MTs are hard to come by in SLC. He claimed the 6 speed coupes were sold out until Sept. Don't put much stock in anything I am told at a dealer. I haven't spent much time talking with them after I placed the order so they haven't had a chance to be good or bad.
Frankly I wished I tried to get a quote from some other place. No other reason than maybe a better deal.
If you buy one out of state make sure they don't have sales tax because you will have to pay it when you register the car here.

Sounds like a catch 22. I can order from here, with no tax, or try a negotiate long distance and pay tax and find a way to ship or drive the car here. I'd hate to drive it long distance during break in. I imagine anything I'd save by negoitating I'd lose in tax and shipping. I want the deep red one (I don't know the 'official' color), Vegas has one in stock! I'll call down there any at least see if they'll work with me.
My maxima had 19's, so the winter use was limited. I also own a 4x4, so weather is not a concern for me. Although if the AWD was available with manual....
The Utes did have a great season, thanks! As a graduating student of too many years, it was nice to have such a great football season for my last one on campus. Thanks for the info, it didn't think of the tax issue. Unless Tobin of Vegas gives me a deal, looks like I'll order from here.

You pay tax according to the state (more accurately the county) you live in regardless of where you buy the car. I bought my G in Maryland (which I believe has a 3% sales tax) and paid the Florida 6% tax. Apparently Utah has no sales tax. That means you can buy the car anywhere else and not pay any sales tax, even if you buy the car in a state that has sales tax.
Dont bother looking in Vegas for an infiniti at a good price. Both infiniti dealers here are owned by the same person, TOBIN, and they wont budge off of MSRP. I did my research on Edmunds.com and the infiniti website then put in an LA area code. I just bought my 05 Sedan, premium pkg C, Nav pkg, and a 2000.00 dealer adedd chrome wheel pkg (stock wheels chromed) in sesrengeti sand for 300.00 over invoice from parkway superstores on Magic Mountain Pkwy in LA.
