04 Sedan---- Black/Blue smoke on start-up and when accelerating heavy

With 143,000 miles on the odometer and some visible smoke I'm sure this one needs a piston ring job. What weight oil would you use to reduce oil burning for the short haul?

I wouldn't go higher than 10w40.

Conventional 10w40 should do the trick for a little while.
