Low Gas tripping CEL

I don't understand what's the point of the low gas indicator, if the CEL trips on for having low gas. Anyone have an answer?

Is their a bigger reason for the CEL?

You've been a member here long enough to know you need to pull the codes to verify what issue you're having. Post up what you find and we'll be better able to help you out. I've NEVER heard of a car that trips the CEL due to low gas.

Well the two times my gas light came on the service light followed. When I went to pull the code it was something to due with the gas tank level part... Can't fully remember. After that I filled up and reset the ecu and the light doesnt come back on until I'm very low on fuel. Which is also indicated in the manual for a MIL light.
