Overhead console removal
Does anybody know if it's possible to remove the overhead console without dropping the entire headliner? I've looked in the FSM and it says 3 pawls (WTF are pawls?) and 2 clips hold the unit in. I don't want to pry the thing out and ruin the headliner. If anybody's had any experience here, please let me know.

That's the one... well I just pulled down on the front portion and I see what Infiniti was referring to as "pawls". Looking like I'll have to drop the entire headliner just to get the stupid thing reinstalled.
When I got my car vandalized with a cinder block the person hit the roof right above that piece so hard it was hanging by some wires lol. I'm pretty sure you don't need to take the whole headliner off to remove that piece. Pry it from the back with a screwdriver. I had to push up the a$$ end up more to properly secure it when I got my car back from the body shop. From my observation it looks like when you are wanting to put that piece back in you put the front in first then push up the a$$ end. And vice-versa to remove it.

These little ****ers are why you can't just pull the overhead console out... yes there are a couple of metal clips holding the unit onto the roof sheetmetal but I have no idea how you pulled yours out (or reinstalled it) without at a minimum having it not sit flush, or even worse, ripping your headliner. I broke a couple of clips as a result of trying to pull it out and had to order a replacement.... FFFFFFUUUUUUU
Anyway now I know how to drop the headliner, and I can clean all of the individual interior pieces that I had to pull off to get it out. The tan/gray really accumulates dirt.
