I have an 03 g35 sedan (two wheel drive) and it needs a u joint or a driveshaft. A shop told me that they can replace the u joint but Infiniti said they can only replace the entire drive shaft. Does anybody on here have any experiencewith this and can you advise?

 

sounds like you just need to know where to look for the part? Check out slidegood or ebay...DS's are pretty cheap and come with what you need

 

I'm not concerned about parts availability, I'm concerned about whether or not it's acceptable to replace just the u joint instead of the entire drive shaft. Infiniti won't do just the joint but I found an independent shop that will. Any experience with this? I'm a decent shade tree mechanic- is a drive shaft replacement difficult?

 

What symptoms are you having with the busted U-joint?

 

A u-joint is a u-joint. Shouldn't be too bad but while you have it apart might as well replace them all!!!
