Extended Warranty

Did you purchase an extended warranty with you new G35? If so, why? If not, why not? Did you not purchase an extended warranty and later wish you had?

Post you opinions on G35 extended warranties!

I let myself be convinced into buying one when I bought my car. I ended up paying less than I feared on the car (though not as good as some posters, but I DID have to have th e car transferred from another state), so I bought it for peace of mind.

If you only plan to keep the car for 3-4 years, and not go over the mileage limits, I would suggest skipping it. But I plan to keep it for at least the 7 years of the extended warranty, so I hope I didn't make a mistake). But I'm driving under the average mileage. Only 13500 miles in 15 months.

I'm usually against getting extended warranties on import cars because the reliability is there with Honda/Toyota/Nissan. I'm usually concerned about powertrain (engine/tranny) more than anything else. When I bought my 03 last week, I got a much better financing rate from the dealer than my bank could offer which meant my monthly payment was going to be much lower than I planned for. The dealership offered me a 5 year/100K bumper to bumper warranty with a $50 deductable for $980. I was resistant at first then I started thinking about all the equipment this car has compared to the cars I had in the past. Things like yaw sensors and stability control, multi-function ABS, Bose indash six disc changer, auto climate control, dual power seats, four sets of airbags and related sensors, etc. I don't drive my car a lot and I know that Infiniti's factory bumper to bumper and powertrain warranties are longer than most other makes, but having that additional bumper to bumper warranty until 2010 or 100K miles gives me some comfort because I do plan on keeping this car for 6 years and probably 110-120K miles. Even with the extended warranty thrown in, I'm paying $15 less a month than I had planned for.
