Is the DVD Navigation Option worth it?

Is it worth the extra $2K? Or would it be better to buy a separate Navigation? Or how easy would it be to install an iPod instead of the Navigation?

Aftermarket Navigation will run you over 2k, so if you really want Navigation and plan on keeping the stock headunit then I would go ahead and get the factory navigation. If you plan on going aftermarket headunit then I would probably buy aftermarket navigation system also

Yes.

You'll regret it if you don't get it. ;P

Be aware of one major limitation with the stock navigation system.

When you go on vacation, and really need it, it won't be available if you fly. As I found last summer in Nevada/California.

Had it on my Sedan, and now have it on my Coupe, and it will be on my M45. I love it....It's a real useful tool and a great toy.

If you can afford the extra dough, get one.
So many have regretted not getting one, compared to very few (if any) who don't like owning it.

Same here. I bought a Garmin GPS V Deluxe a couple of years ago and use it in multiple vehicles. I also recently took it to Hawaii, on vacation, for use in a rental car. It worked great there (I don't understand why Infiniti's nav doesn't have coverage in Hawaii).

I have nav in my G35 and don't use it that often. However, it's proben invaluable for the times I have needed it. In my opinion, it's worth the money and should be a good selling point when it's time to trade-in/sell the car.

I didn't get NAV myself because then I would need to also throw in Premium Package which is another 3500. Meaning it'll cost me over 5,000+ to get NAV and of course you get the premium stuffs. I am thinking of getting a Dell Axim + GPS. My friend has it for his car and it's great. He interchanges that with both of his cars. I think it's alot of money if you start getting factory NAV for every car you have. With a portable one you can uses it for all your car and well as rental car or even your friends car. Obviously, it's not as nice as a factory built in 7inch Nav but for $500+ bucks and you get a pocket pc...I think it's a pretty good bargain. It does the job and gets you where you wanted...exactly what a NAV does.

I think I always know where I am going, but I always end up lost, so I realized I don't have sense of direction so I got it and love it.

If you are going to treat yourself by getting something more than transportation, do it the right way and get navi.

depends on what you use your car for

i didn't get it on my 2nd G35 6MT sedan, which is now a 2005 (traded in the 2003). my reasons for not getting it are:

-- hey, it's 2K!
-- i use my car mostly for local driving, vacation driving, but the unfortunate truth, to drive back and forth to the airport.
-- in my 03, i LOVED all the space the DVD navi stuff leaves you. all my phone charger things, my ipod stuff (which i have no idea how to connect now that the cassette is gone and i have XM), etc.
-- i can still read a map.

what i miss more than navi is something not offered on a G35 without navi, and that is a trip computer. my 2001 jetta had a great trip computer that offered MPG, average speed, time driving (accounting for short stops). it was great. i believe most of this comes with the nav system, but for my driving it's not worth it.

now if anyone can recommend a cool trip computer that isn't a tacky piece of garbage, it would be appreciated.
