Strut tower rust

Any advice on what to do here?

Just purchased an 06 sedan with 78k miles and missed this when I was looking the car over at the dealer.

There is a sticky gel residue on it (I cleaned that off) which I assume is what caused the rust to start. The top layer actually seems to be raised up a little from the rust where the passenger side (with no rust) lays flat.

Spray some rust converter on it or sand it and apply white primer over the area.

+1 on rust converter. It should stop the rest and keep future rust from forming.

I have this same issue just curious on what you have done to address the matter.

I had a similar issue but caught it at a much earlier stage, as the others have suggested, use a rust converter such as POR15.

Don't most rust converters turn to black so how did you address that?

Did you leave it black or how did you handle that?

I have white under my hood, black wouldn't be a good look.

I brought it to a body shop he said it's not worth the repair he doesn't see it being a problem but it looks horrible and would like to fix it if possible.

This would appear to be a somewhat common issue.I saw it on three G35s as I was shopping for mine; one of them was pretty extensive, the others more cosmetic. I think you are wise to try to find the early cure. The extensively corroded one was pretty ugly; if you let it go, it's likely to end up unhappily.

Yeah I want to address the issue now because I want to start engine dress up and thats not a good look with rust around my strut tower.

I know there are products like rust converter, but they using change the color to black.

Which worries me because my car is white.

So paint it white over the rust converter.
